Yes, if you hook up the camera and plug it into the rear of the touchscreen, you can access the video via the secret screen. You may come up against a video format issue like I did though, where it required a video feed via the secret screen to be PAL format, but via the reverse trigger it required NTSC (see my earlier posts).Quote:

I've already done all the front part - just want to check it's all happily connected. So hopefully I won't have to take the dash apart again.
I threaded the Fakra cable through wrapped with some door seal foam tape to make sure there are no rattles. I must admit even with all the prior advice I was surprised at how much force had to be applied to remove those side/vent pieces. A bit disconcerting at times but it all came out and went back in cleanly.
I did lose 3 clips - one I sighted briefly as I tried to pick it out with tweezers but the other 2 gone to places unknown! Definitely worth having spares to replace (they are on my parts list). Apart form the Topix instructions, which are quite good, my only extra learning is that I think it's easier to get the side vent pieces back in place with the upper section of the console removed. Less manoeuvring to get the lower edge of the vent pieces in place.

It will be good to verify that the connections are ok - even with the fuzzy picture PAL/NTSC issue. I'll do that over the weekend.
Once my Nanocom is fixed I'll activate the camera and make sure it is all working before I install all the rear looms etc.
If you have a chance to send that CCF Chris that will definitely be helpful.

After checking that connecting the camera worked ok(before I started taking too many things apart), I put the rear loom cabling and camera in over the weekend. All the connections were where I expected them to be - it was reasonably straightforward to replace the loom and the microswitch with the new loom which includes the camera wiring. Now from the secret screen I get this scrambled screen as expected from Chris's experience.

With the camera disconnected the screen is just blank so I know the connections are in place front to back. I expect that once I do the CCF edit it will be looking for the NTSC input when it goes into reverse and I'll get a proper picture.
I can't add much extra info to the Disco3 process (DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - D4 XS wiring for rear camera) except that I did have a bit of trouble getting the lower rubber seal on the upper tailgate off without breaking some of the clips - I broke 3 and I was using proper trim tools. Checked today and clips can't be purchased separately, only the complete seal. Another $47... I'll provide the part number for that too once I get my hands on it.
I think I've got the required CCF settings pretty clear (thanks Chris and Ron) but have to wait and see if I get the yellow guidelines. Now just have to wait for the Nanocom to come back from it's Euro vacation! ;)
Will post again with results after I get my Nanocom back and make the CCF changes.

My Nanocom just arrived back from repair and with a bit of fiddling and help from Chris and Ron - thanks - I've got this reversing camera going, complete with yellow guidelines!

I think I read somewhere that there may be a way to calibrate the camera / improve the image but I'll look into this later.
So, to recap, the parts required are:
1 x 1m Fakra Z female cable like this: (Fakra Female TO Fakra Female RG174 "Z" RF Pigtal Cable 1M FOR Wireless Neutral | eBay)
1 x LR043493 - camera
1 x LR071911 (replaces LR015458) - micro switch with camera wiring - this provides power and video connection from camera to next loom
1 x LR021100 - tailgate loom with camera wiring
6 x FYC 500040 - clips for radio / air vents trim (these are a precaution in case any pop off during removal of the trim and vents around the head unit - I lost 3 )
Tools: I think it's a bit easier with some plastic trim tools (like these: Auto CAR Door Trim Panel Dash Installation Removal PRY Tool KIT Plastic 5pcs | eBay) but not absolutely necessary...
The procedure is well documented in the Disco3 thread mentioned already (DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - D4 XS wiring for rear camera).
Front of car
Remove upper part of centre console to uncover brown Fakra video connector under felt on top of transmission;
Remove head video unit (after top cover and side vent pieces) - all covered well in Topix;
Thread through and connect Fakra cable from head unit passenger side connector to connector under console.
Put it all back together.
Rear of car
again well documented in the Disco3 thread
Remove rear head lining and trim around liftgate window;
Fit camera
Replace looms and microswitch with the new ones;
Put it all back together.

I think the image looks pretty good, well done. Here's a photo of my MY14 factory fitted. Obviously difficult to compare in a low res photo but it might help. The outside yellow guidelines look a bit different.

I was only able to go quickly out onto the driveway to check it and my random stopping and putting the 2.5 tonne behemoth in reverse seemed to be worrying a few people! :wasntme:
I don't think they were bending but will get to a bigger space later and try it out more thoroughly.
The VIN comparisons I looked at showed that the setting for Park assist camera should be Rear camera only but that didn't work so I am still wondering if the settings are quite right... question with BBS. If I have to live without bendy lines I will.

I think my MY13 Camera is great as you can drive within inches of things but I thing the bending line camera turned or something to keep everything in better perspective when moving off centre.

I've got an MY13 too and assumed that the lines bent when you had a trailer attached until I also had a loaner Freelander and the lines bent without a trailer attached. I wonder why it's not on the MY13. I've got an HSE so it's not as if it may have been an option. Anyone know if this can be turned on?Quote:
