    10" tablet in a D4

Any of you guys have a 10" tablet mounted permanently in your D4???
If so can you post a pic.
Looking at an alternative to a Hema 7.It seems for the same sort of money one can get a 10" tablet and run GPS from the tablet.
A rough measure(260x175) sits the screen in front of the climate controls using a flexible RAM mount.
    Anybody done similar???
I like the thought that the tablet then can be used for internet etc whilst traveling.
No,I dont have a smartphone or intend buying one at the moment.
    Thoughts thanks.

Hi Andy This is what I have done for my iPad - not using the flexible mounts but another mounting type. Let me know if you want the parts used and I'll try to find the list somewhere...although I think I followed a disco3.co.uk link for this. A combo of ram mount and clic on. Mounting is fairly secure, has come loose once or twice on some rough VHC trips, but otherwise does a good job. Cheers Mark

There is a thread on this called "ipad mount for D4". I would post the link, but I can't get "cut and paste" to work today. (sound of hair torn out)

I use a Ram mount for my Sony tablet. See above thread for pics and other options.

I have changed computers and cut and paste now works.

And I run Ozexplorer for Android. I find it suits me very well and the GPS of the Sony tablet is very sensitive. The Asus tablet it replaced was not able to detect satellites about 30% of the time.

Pedro, I run HEMA on an iPad using the HEMA maps and memory map (1:25k topo etc). I use an external Bluetooth GPS receiver (aviation quality) as my iPad is wifi only. I've also used motionX and mudmap but prefer the HEMA / memory map combination.

Andy, I've used various elcheapo eBay mounts to hold mine but normally get the passenger to hold it or just put it on the dash and refer as necessary - but I only use mine for off-road navigation. For onroad nav I use iPhone in a suction mount with audio instructions streamed to the stereo via Bluetooth. I also have factory nav and occasionally use that but the maps are really out of date and I prefer the iPhone as it has real time traffic etc.

All the Clicon stuff I have seen is re-badged Brodit, with a heftier price tag. I have bought double the amount for the same price - getting Brodit from UK.
