Passenger Airbag off - warning light

Okay, so my new D4 has less than 200kms on it, nice ride.

I noticed Today that the "passenger airbag off" light is showing for a few seconds at startup. The AU option does not have the switch to allow you to turn the airbag off so what gives.

I shall call the service manager in the morning, but in case any of you have come across this before I thought I would ask. I definitely want the passenger air bag operational and hope that the management system is mis reading the situation.

And I did try a search, I can't make the search engine produce any results for me.

    don't worry

apparently all is good, I asked the same question when I first got my D4. It is only part of tehe sequence of testing all the warning lights. Watch carefully when you press the start key and all the warning lights show up!!!!!

That was what I thought as first but according to the manual, the airbag check light is on the primary dash with all the others and this is only supposed to come for a few second if the air bag is disabled by the switch that AIU models don't have.

And I only noticed it today. I am pretty sure that I would noticed it previously while I was setting up the nav and audio etc.

I am not too worried, and hope you are correct.

    Thanks for the advice.

You would think in a market that didn't have the switch, they would disable the message.

Noticed the message on mine a week or two after i got it.

well, if the consensus is that all new D4s have the "Passenger airbag off" warning light for a few seconds next to the AC control, then I shall relax and pronounce myself unworthy for not noticing it sooner.

I am sure the diagnostics would determine its setting and another search mentioned it going into auto "off" if items are placed on the Passenger seat and it assumes there is no person on the seat.

My Defender SVX without airbags never had this.

    Thank you all.

Perfectly normal as it is part of the start-up routine.

It should only come on for a few seconds, along with the rest of the lights, and then go out.

    Hi Tony and welcome

I had the same thing happen to me.

Along the same lines, and so you don't worry, if you see an orange triangle with an exclamation mark appear in the dash display and then it disappears and reappears it could be something as simple as the washer fluid being low. Gave me a bit of a fright the first time A message pops up, but unless you see it when it happens, the message disappears but the triangle stays on leaving you wondering what is happening. No doubt there are other reasons for the orange triangle but keep this one in mind.
