    D3 in Limp Mode

    Hi all,
Requesting some trouble shooting advice? Yesterday I hooked the D3 up to the boat trailer and went to the boat ramp for some fun on the water. The initial hook up of the electrics couldn't get the brake lights on the trailer to work until a bit of crc was spayed on the adaptor and plug. After launching the boat the car went into limp mode with all warning lights on the dash lit up and an F on the gear selector display. This error stayed until I checked it the next morning without the trailer.

    Facts:
    1. Trailer is LED but I have a ?pulse buster installed (thanks to this forum's good advice)
    2. I used the large black socket with an adaptor to a 7 pin plug
    3. this is the second time the car has experienced this using this trailer (new boat)
    4. Temperature was fine
    5. 2005 D3 S model
Is it possible for a faulty adaptor or trailer plug to throw such an error? My thoughts were to try a new adaptor as this is the cheapest and easiest option. If no luck then test it on another LED trailer? rgds Kevo

I don't think any fuses are affected as the fault has gone and all is working again.

Given that you had to spray the connector to get it to work, how corroded are the connectors ? Erratic electrical connections may cause all kinds of issues with a D3.

Yes that is the point. I will check these carefully and possibly replace the connector as a start. A little disappointing that something like this can cause such a drama. Thanks for your input

If you think that's bad, you should see the drama caused by a failed brake lamp or a failing brake light switch ...

It has happened twice with this trailer but has it not happened with this trailer? If it occurred every time then either the adapter or the trailer plug/wiring icould be shorting to earth or simply wired incorrectly and feeding 12V back into another circuit. A short circuit wont blow a fuse if that circuit is switched using a FET in the bcu.
