Are LRs like BMWs where a non auto wiper screen is $250 and an automatic wiper screen with sensor is $1100?

To me a most useless accessory if at some stage it costs an owner an arm and leg.

Not entirely sure as i haven't replaced one yet but i know that the genuine ones are quite expensive i hear. I just have them on insurance for an extra $50 a year very worth it.

I have my auto wipers off to protect the windscreen. The wipers can activates even when a bug hits the sensor area or one drop of moisture lands in the area and the rest of the windscreen is dry and can cause the windscreen to be scratched.

I had to replace my windscreen two years ago because of scratches caused by the wipers.

So mine stays off until the first major drops and it is then I switch to auto and leave it on auto while in the rainy area then back to off.

If you look at the wiper stalk you should see a section of it that you can twist to adjust the speed setting - think it says min/max. It's not the same as other intermittent time setting switches as it adjusts for car speed as well. You may notice this when driving as the wipers will speed up and slow down depending upon your speed if the rain is constant. It works quite well in general use apart from the problem with initiating when the screen seems dry.
