Even though the kerb weight of a D3 is much greater than a P38A, I really think the diesel D3 would outrun the petrol P38A. :(
But the P38 sounds much. much better doing it ;)
So does anyone know if the territory engine suffers from the oil pump housing fault that is in certain models of the D3 engine?
Cheers Ean
It seems to have a Thicker Oil Pump Housing Idler Pulley area... So I would suggest no...
I've had 2 P38's, both 4.6, the last one with the Bosch injection. Now I have the D3 TDV6 2.7.
Chalk and cheese, the V8's wouldn't get a look in!
The difference between a Fifties design engine and a modern one, the diesel's torque, and more gears in the trans.
As an OAP I can't afford a newer car. :(
To return to Mark's original post, that's good info, Mark. Give me a drive one day? :D
I have to admit, if I didn't need a more suitable tow vehicle I would still be enjoying the delights of the Rangie.
In fact, if someone had figured out how to fit a 5 or 6 speed box into the P38 that might have been enough to convince me stay with the Rangie.
