Won't the insurer just issue a write off for situation like this and give you the agreed value money for the next purchase.

    Hi 4evershiva

You are right. If they deem it a write off I will get the agreed value, less my excess and less any outstanding insurance premium (in my case none, since I paid up front for the full year).

I am just not sure which way they will go. I think it will be close, depending on what they value the salvage at.

    Regards
    Scott

You should buy it from the insurer to use as a bush basher. Bush pin striping can only improve on its current condition!!

Sorry to hear this, Sc0tt. Hope you don't get mucked about by the insurer.

    Scott.
Look into this if you like the Disco.
They changed rules in WA after a huge hail storm a few years ago.If the insurance company wrote the vehicle off for hail damage it could continue to be registered without going on a WOVR.
Seek the payout figure and see if you can buy the "wreck",then re-insure as third party only(they will never fully insure it again).Keep it hail damaged as an off roader,or even your daily drive. It should be more aerodynamic, think golf ball
Being a new purchase, the economics may not work out to buy the write off from the insurance company,it certainly does in a vehicle that has lots of coins spent improving it whilst the market value doesnt reflect the cost it owes the owner.
    GOODLUCK

Well, the car was deemed a total loss. They will collect it over the next few days and pay out the finance and send me the difference.

    Bummer.....

Have to start looking all over again! And we had already planned Christmas travels. Luckily I haven't gotten around to selling the old car yet. Trouble is the old car doesn't fit all the kids.

    Regards

Bugger, really sorry to hear that Scott. Will you come out of it ahead or behind financially?
