You should be using good spec Glass sunglasses which will absorb heat. Plastic lenses don't.

2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

My first choice was to use 3M films - I specify ONLY these professionally (for commercial buildings) and I don't see why their car tinting films wouldn't also be of superior quality - I don't want to have to do this twice!
I also don't want the same sort of excessively dark tinting that you see in the Falcodore pimp-mobiles and the like, but I do want a high thermal performance similar to low-E commercial glasses which have a hard ceramic thermal coating on the inside face and are very effective at reducing thermal loading and therefor running costs - albeit at a higher intial capital cost.
The nearest equivalent I have found in car tinting is the 3M Crystalline series and this is pretty much only available from DMS Tinting & Graphics Unit 2 44 Hutton St Osborne Park and I have booked in there tomorrow morning. I haven't quite decided on the 50 or 60% light transmittance yet - they both have exceptionally good claimed heat rejection (56% and 53% respectively) which is equivalent to 'privacy' tinting with only 5% light transmittance. I really hate that 'black' window look and you can't see through privacy glazing at night at all.
I will try and remember to take some before and after pix.
    cheers

I went with the 3M Crystalline tint in the darkest legal and i love it just can not believe how much heat it blocks out its really great tint the best I've had on any car before!! I even rang the fella up about a month later and said mate the best tint I've had i love it and he said yeah your right mate its hard to explain to people but its bloody good stuff!!

Ill definitely get it again on the new cars i get, it cost me $650 cash i think it was fitted to the D4 but i didn't mind because very worth it certainly blocks out the heat well.

Thanks but not a heat problem (not IR) more an intensity issue - hence I have very dark sunglasses when out and about...

    Very reflective some surfaces

Plus glass isn't the safest - I have ImpactX lenses...

For total out and about eye protection heat is always the constant hidden danger (contributing to cataracts), and glass is unbeatable for heat absorption.

ImpactX unbreakable lenses for total protection

Thanks.. What I referred to was the impact resistance of the lenses..
I can not wear the glass ones as they don't meet spec..

The lady was of indian origin and her tone of voice and attitude smacked of telemarketer so I dindnt push the point and wasnt interersted in doing business there.
She said my glass is factory coloured and these tints make the glass very dark.I pointed to my D4 and said that isnt coloured glass, she told me it was.Im sure she was thinking privacy glass.
Anyhow I didnt get time to visit another store to get to chat with an AWEstralian.
I was quoted $520 for the D4 and $480 to do the Territory. She also mentioned a package with paint and seat protection for around $1000.
    How do the prices sound?????
    Thanks

    G'day Andrew,

Firstly, I'd stay as far away from tint-a-car as possible. I had my D3 done with tint-a-car in Townsville to the 'darkest legal' and subsequently found out it was not anywhere near the darkest shade. The rear left passenger window also bubbled within 12 months - yes, they replaced it, but I had to wait several weeks for an available appointment.

I got the D4 tinted in April this year at instant windscreens Canberra, and my wife did the little Peugeot at the same time. Brilliant job, and much darker than the tint-a-car. From memory, price for D4 was about $500. Best part was service, warranty and compliance certificate - because we are a defence family we move states and the laws are different. Instant windscreens was across it all. You guys have at least two of them in Perth.

Guys I used someone that comes to your house. Uses only 3M tint. I did 35% all around, as I wanted to keep it legal. Only $195! Normally $270. Great job and I know of others who had him do their D4's a few years back and they are very happy. The dealer wanted $850 for the same job!!! Same tint!!!

Solartint, has the same spec as 3M Crystalline, at almost half the price, as far as I'm aware, their reputation is still good.
