    my14 Discovery bull bar genuine

Have been offered a bar from L/R. Has any one got decent pictures from various aspects of the bar.
L/R & my dealer cannot supply decent photos.
I know some people don't like the looks, I need one asap to keep the roos at bay.

A few pics from a LR bar installed on a D4 on the lot at Albany WA.

The bar has tabs at the top that run back under the front edge of the bonnet onto the PLASTIC part of the grill near the radiator support panel. The plastic bumper is cut just below the upper lip of the bumper bar section section which gives a neat finish under the headlights and must mean that there is some metal under there somewhere strengthening it. It is not a straight fit over the plastic bumper. Of course for a MY14 D4, it has LAND ROVER stamped on it which does not match the DISCOVERY name on the bonnet.

I think it appears very well integrated to the vehicle (as opposed to some ARB/OL bar installs that leave gaps under lights and cable-ties holding guards on) but I would be concerned about strength in a decent size animal hit.

    Cheers,

On one of these that I was looking at a little while back Chris, the inner guard liners were still held in place with cable ties (like they were on the OEM supplied bars on all of my Prado's).

There's no cable ties holding the guard liners in place on my ARB bar.

But I agree with you on the fit under the headlights and the wheel arch flares - the LR bar is definitely a tidier fit than any I've seen on an after-market bar. Whether that's a good thing or not in the event of an impact - I'm not so sure.
    Cheers .........

Just a thought, after installing an OL/ARB bar, I wonder if you could trim the top section off the original plastic bumper and place it to fill the gap under the headlights? Landyandy, do you still have the original bumper from when your OL bar was installed, maybe you could be our test bunny?

    Cheers,

    Thanks Chris for the photos.
Very neat appearance but the vertical supports, in the central section look like just pressed alloy.

Well I must say it does look OK, maybe it's growing on meBUT, just a little nudge on or into something will bend or break something, there's no margin for movement, gaps are there for a reason, just my opinion
