With Keyless Entry would manual locking with the emergency key disable the keyless ability?

My thoughts on a separate key was to make life easier than having to remove and replace the emergency key each time.

I totally missed the keyless entry bit....sorry.

It would be a matter of trial & error at home.
I know you can lock the keys in the vehicle as we do this for many clients who ask us to lock them in when we go home & they have a spare key.
Admittedly I can't recall if I have done a keyless entry vehicle!?

Do you have a small lead box just lying around? ;-)

I got a blank key cut. If i go to the beach, i wrap my remote in aluminium foil, put it under the back seat and lock the car with the blank key using the emergency access on the passenger side door. Then i go swimming with the key in my sluggos. The foil stops the car picking up the transponder.

If you do that( lock with key) would the alarm and immobilizer be on ?

i don't even know if my car has an alarm. to get the car moving, someone would have to break in first. they can't start it because the car doesn't sense the transponder, so they would have to find it and unwrap it.

it's not the best system, but i would rather have my transponder/remote inside the car so they have to break in to get it, rather than outside the car.

I Windsurf and Kitesurf with a seat harness which means I can wear a PFD with a pocket in the front of it. I also have a waterproof pouch that I put my valuables in and then keep it in the pocket of the PFD. I have the same year D4 as you and the key goes in the pouch. Has never been a problem and I often put my iPhone in there to use the GPS to track my course and speed while on the water. Works well.

I think they all have alarm and immobilizer

I would reckon anyone who breaks into your car and finds a foil wrapped package is going to have a good look at it,

Hi guys,

What do you do with the fob?

Sure you can hide it in the car in a tin,take the battery out and hide it somewhere else, or wrap it in alfoil,then take the small key out of the fob with you,but unlocking the car with the key is not that convenient.It appears to be fiddly and made only for emergencies(like the oem jack

)And the vehicle cannot be armed using the key.Taking the battery out of the fob is also fiddly as well.

Waterproof pouches would be a bit of a risk,not really what i want to do.

The other option is a lock box,under the car,but this may be a bit obvious as well,and i don't know how i would stand with the insurance company if something did happen.

There is a lock box that fits in a standard Haymond Reece tow bar,but i don't have the tow bar on,only have the OEM type,don't know if it would fit into it.

Any other ideas?
