I've been using a Sony Action Cam Waterproof housing to take my D3 Keyfob Diving.
    It's rated to 60 M
3 years now & no issues

    D3 KEY ONLY
I have been surfing with the key tucked in my wetsuit & have not had any issues.
AS LONG AS IT IS AN ORIGINAL KEY & has not been opened (Some people have opened the keys to replace the battery) this kills the waterproofing.

    Hi Sneigy,
    When I investigated this, I was told between 5 m & 30 M Waterproof.
As I dive to 40 M + I decided to find an alternative solution.
The Sony Action Cam Case is excellent.

I was also told that the replacement key was $700.00 + so I thought $50.00 for a case was a good idea.

    Hi Richard,
    Ahh More info.
Thats cool, didn't realise that you dived &/or are a diver.
Your solution is monetary wise, therefore an excellent idea.

    Cheers

    Ended up with these.
You have to find out the key code for your vehicle and the locksmith will cut the key to suit.It is a ford key.
The key code is available from the dealer.

I have hidden my D3 key in the front bull bar but hate it as always a little worried some sad sack would watch me but it is usualy pre dawn or dark. Just brought a NEW KEY Safe BOX Lock Combination Digital Keysafe Padlock Door Security | eBay

At a over 1/2 kg it is not a light weight and I assume it might shield your proximity key and work for you. It is similar to the key locks used by hundreds of real estate agents so I again assume insurance is not an issue for other insurance companies. My insurance company said this lock its fine with them! D3 key FOB did not fit (close but no cigar!)

I dive and surf and water proof is usually waffle waiting to bite you so I would not take my keys diving. Broken enough "water proof" watches to be aware claims like that are often very flimsy at best. My phone is allegedly water proof acording to Sony but the truth might be otherwise Sony Xperia Z3 review: good but with a waterproofing fail – Blog – ABC Technology and Games (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Not taking my phone in the water either! At $31 I think the lock will be fine with me for my running, diving or surfing time away from my Disco with a modified spare key.
