    Gearbox interchangability

    Hi people,
    Would a gearbox from a 2009 TDV6 fit in my 2005 V6 4.0 petrol, straight swap, no mods?

    Not likely.... The mechatronics will need matching/ programming to your tcm, and a tc and bellhousing change...

    Hi Jc,
    Ok, so a few challenges, the mapping and synchronising, should be able to do that with my Faultmate, possibly. Could I transfer my TC and bell housing from my own box onto the TDV6 box?

    I was told by my auto trans mechanic that the mechatronics can only be programmed by ZF and they won't reprogram only sell a new one for the vehicle.

    So this sound like a bit more of a problem, just an idea, I've seen a gearbox fro a TDV6 for sale in Perth, just wondered. Thanks for the input.

    I would look deeply into it,try the UK D3 sites for more info.
    Going back to D2s,the same autos dont swap between petrol/diesel.
