Solenoid releasing so you can engage gear.
It happens everytime you apply the brake pedal & has happened since the day you picked it up.
You have only just noticed it

Today I fitted the Traxide dual battery kit. It went very well and I'm very happy.
When all finished I turned the D4 on and checked that all lights were working and no alarms, which was the case; indicators, brakes, headlights all ok and no alarms on dash. everything normal. Also checked voltage at each 12V plug including new Andersen one, as well as at aux battery terminal. All were reading 12.6V. So zero problems.
However, I noticed a clicking noise like a switch going on/off from approximately under the centre console gear knob when I applied the brake pedal, with every press of pedal. Turned car off and waited a bit and then back on. Same noise. Doesn't sound bad, just haven't heard it before.
it is possible that this noise was already present and I didn't notice before buts it's loud enough to have noticed I think.
One rear light assembly is removed to fit the Traxide kit trailer power lead but that light assembly went back in without any issues. The wiring loom plug fitted back in easily and made a good click. Plus all lights are working properly.
Has anyone experienced a distinct clicking noise under centre console when applying brake pedal? Am I just being paranoid?
Cheers,
Scott

Yep, I feel a bit silly now. It's only present when in Park or Neutral, which I didn't check before getting paranoid. Thanks, Scott.

Don't feel silly mate.
Its all how we learn.

I heard a similar noise after mine had been serviced.
If I was sitting in neutral, and took my foot off the brake, I would hear a click coming from the EPB.
When I took it back the next time, I mentioned it to my friendly service advisor, but did put in a disclaimer that it might have been there all the time, but I had only just heard it, while the radio was off.
Same as yours. Turns out it was perfectly normal, and the stereo was doing a very, very good job...

No! you are all wrong. That noise means that there is a terminal fault with the oil pressure and your engine is doomed!
happy Christmas mate, I'm just kidding
Had a listen out today,it seems I have the noise too, never noticed it before!!!!
