The instructions I had didn't mention attaching to suspension ECU or anywhere else but that would be nicely out of harms way, if a little difficult to do perhaps.

Thinking back I had double sided tape but switched to Velcro because you can remove it easily to reset/recalibrate.
Sticking to the suspension ecu didn't last because the suspension ecu got too hot causing the tape to fall off, so these days no tape is supplied. A cable-tie could be fitted through one or both holes in the end tabs but the box seems to sit well unrestrained on the ledge to the left of the opening although Velco could be used to hold it there.
Fitted the LLAMS Unit. Pretty easy to install. Mounted both controller and red push button on the RHS steering column.
When the car is on access level and I turn the controller to low the car drops, but I get an error message on the dash... Is this normal?
Also don't really understand what the red push button does? Doesn't seem to have any effect on the height? Have re-read the instructions but still a bit confused?

IIRC Pressing the red button when in Access drops the vehicle pretty much to bump stops so error messages normal but not an issue. How to use the button is outlined in the notes in the instructions:
3. EXTRA LOWmode changes the LOW setting to ?HIGH (lowers by off-road difference). The vehicle will lower to or close to the bump stops when used in Access mode. This may be incompatible with pre MY07-update vehicles and cause faults.
To enable, set the Llams height switch to LOW then momentarily press the MODE button. The module LED will be green.
To disable, momentarily set the Llams height switch to MEDIUM.
4. RECOVERY (EXTRAHIGH) mode allows off-road height to be achieved when the suspension has lowered to the 'safe? heightof about access height. MEDIUM provides normal height and HIGH providesoff-road height.
To enable, set the Llams height switch to HIGH then momentarily press the MODE button. The module LED will be red.
To disable, momentarily set the Llamsheight switch to LOW.
5. FADE-OUT mode can be used to limit additional height at extreme articulation in an attempt toovercome suspension faults that have occurred whilst using Llams MEDIUM or HIGH in conjunction with off-road height or when using RECOVERY mode whilst the suspension is not in safe mode. To enable, set the Llams height switch to MEDIUM then momentarily press the MODE button. Themodule LED will be orange. FADE-OUT can be used with RECOVERY mode, eitherbefore or after RECOVERY mode is enabled. If RECOVERY mode is enabled after FADE-OUT then the module LED will be red, as the module LED indicates the mostrecent special mode enabled. To disable FADE-OUT, momentarily set the Llams height switch to LOW. Note that RECOVERY mode will be disabled at the same timeif it had also been enabled.
6. LOCKED mode prevents height changes via the Llams height switch even though the LED indicates otherwise.
Locked mode is also used when calibrating using default values.
To enable, set Llams height switch OFF then momentarily press the MODE button. The module LED will flash red and green.
To disable, momentarily press the MODE button again orenable another special mode.

Using extra low (low+red button) with access height on MY12+ vehicles will likely trigger an extended mode message and the vehicle may start to raise. This will occur because for MY12 the shock bump-stops were increased and when the vehicle wont go lower because Llams has altered the height signals, the suspension ecu thinks that the vehicle has lowered onto an obstacle. Use low with access height for minimum height on MY12+ D4.
The bonus of the higher bump-stops is that larger tyres will not scrape the guard liners nearly so badly as earlier D4s if the suspension drops to the bump-stops.

Bill, majority of the time and in most situations you only need the rotary dial. The red mode button is only needed for special situations as per what David posted earlier. This is why I keep a printed copy of those mode button settings in the car, difficult to remember when rarely used.Quote:

Obviously some combinations make no practical sense, eg factory Offroad Height combined with Llams Low is pointless.
And two combinations put you relatively close to suspension travel limits, namely Access Height + Llams Low or Offroad Height + Llams High.
Either of these can reach a limit and alarm accordingly (bump stops and fully extended respectively).
Not sure if all that waffling helps or is more confusing[emoji51]
