Bill, majority of the time and in most situations you only need the rotary dial. The red mode button is only needed for special situations as per what David posted earlier. This is why I keep a printed copy of those mode button settings in the car, difficult to remember when rarely used.
The typical use of the rotary dial to select a preferred height is pretty intuitive. I just think of it as an offset to whatever factory height you have active. Thus with Llams you have 3 offsets available at any time, one lower and two higher.
Obviously some combinations make no practical sense, eg factory Offroad Height combined with Llams Low is pointless.
And two combinations put you relatively close to suspension travel limits, namely Access Height + Llams Low or Offroad Height + Llams High.
Either of these can reach a limit and alarm accordingly (bump stops and fully extended respectively).
