    Servicing in Sydney

    Hi guys,

Not sure if there's an existing thread on this - feel free to point me at it if so.

My MY2013 RRS (L320) is due a service having done 17k/km. This will be the first one I've had done. Previous owner had it done at 12k/km after just 6 months (he was piling on the KMs, which was one of the reasons he sold it).

My choices locally near me in Sydney are the stealerships - Trivett Alexandria, Alto Land Rover in North Sydney - or Graeme Cooper Automotive.

I will not go Trivett as on half a dozen visits I couldn't stand dealing with anyone there. Alto a friend has had good experiences but they were a bit dim witted when I called for info/pricing, and Graeme Cooper were great on the phone, have a great rep, only thing is I'm just wondering if, for this time, I go main dealer or not. I have a small warranty issue to fix (interior trim loose) but that's it that I know of so I will have to go to the main dealer at some point.

I'm inclined to go to GCA for many reasons (estimated $$$ difference ~$300 alone), is there any reason why I shouldn't?

    Cheers!

No reason not to use Coopers. Although I haven't used them for a few years they were always very good and I've heard nothing that would change that opinion.

I have a preference for servicing at a dealer for the first few years and I have been using Alto for many years now. I get very good service and I'd have no hesitation in recommending them. What I would say though is that the key to getting good service lies in building a relationship. These people are human - treat them like people and that's how they'll treat you.

    Cheers,
    Jon

I have been going to Cooper's for years, they are very good. They are a short walk from St Peters train station if you need to use public transport while they attend to your vehicle. Stuart and Ward are top blokes.

I tend to do dealer whilst in warranty as well, legally you don't have to, but I think it makes it a bit easier, specially since Land Rover Australia can be very painful over warranty.

Just around the corner from Alto is Cremorne prestige, I have been using them since my warranty ran out and I have been very happy, not the cheapest but very good cork and good service. Greg the boss is current D4 owner and previous D3 owner and enthusiast and they know the cars.

Thanks all for the input, much appreciated. I have rung a coouple of places now and am a bit confused as to whether a service or health check is what's up next. Am getting differing statements. Will investigate further though.

I have used Graeme Cooper for the last 29 years, however after having a warranty hiccup with the D4, I'll be using my dealer, Purnell Motors Blakehurst, until it is out of warranty.

Then I'll be returning to GCA. (I still use GCA for my other out of warranty LR product issues)

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Thanks, definitely a theme around if in-warranty go to dealer etc.

If the MY13 RRS is the same as the Disco then services are every 26k or 12 months. Health checks are recommended every 13k or 6 months. Sounds like you are probably due for a service.

I am happy to pay for the health check as 12 months is too long for my Disco to go between services. I also get my oiled changed at the same time. Whether or not this is required is arguable but I prefer to err on the side of caution as mine doesn't have the easiest life.

Or not. Depends on who you talk to. I have always found them to be very good and have a dealer who will always help. Again a big part of this is building a relationship with a good dealer.

    Cheers,
    Jon

Yes you're right. Checked it out last night. 13k health check done in June at 13k, now due annual service even though only done 21k now. I will probs go with Alto this time and see how it goes. Thanks again all, very helpful.

Also @ piddler - had not heard of Andrew Davis Performance before, interesting to see another specialist out there.
