They often look like that when the hose has split. Why not just change it clean the area around it and check in a week or so to see if there is still a leak somewhere around there.

						Hi All,
I had a split in the hose that runs from the intercooler to the inlet manifold and pulled it off today to put the new one on. When I got under to undo the bottom of the hose I found a lot of oil around the hose and was wondering if this is normal or if I have some issue with the seals in the turbo as well. These are photos of the hose when I took it off -
The hose on the other side coming in to the intercooler has oil around it and also feels very soft. I can't see any easy way to replace this one though, I am assuming I will have to pull the inner guard out to even see the turbo end of it.
With that amount of oil in the hose and probably the intercooler will I need to clean the intercooler and the MAF and inlet tract?
Vehicle is a 2007/8 D3 2.7 TDV6.

Bottom of mine is the same with oil down at the bottom of the pipe. I took it to MR a while back as I thought the hose had split but they assured me it had not and the oil was normal.
Mine was the same, as TerryO said, fit new, clean, and check in a week or so.

I have changed the hose and just have to get some new bolts and fasteners to put all the plates back but I have to admit I would really like to know where this oil comes from. The only thing between the air cleaner and the intercooler is the turbo so is that where it comes from? Does the turbo actually leak oil all the time?

If you clean it properly with degreaser then you will have a much better idea in a weeks time if its something else. Most I have seen stop making a mess when a new hose is fitted even if it isn't split.

MR said it was quite common for them to leak like that, hose not sealing that well with a bit of age I would suspect.
Like previous posts the oil being there in first place worries me. The engine does not use oil so where is it coming from?
Turbo oil seals leaking?
I'm tempted to just buy a silicon hose and fit it to be done with it, still think it has a small split or is leaking somewhere.
Is there a procedure to remove them? Is it just that bottom hose that should be replaced?
