My right hand side rear suspension is making a nice creaking sound on movement. I belive I've narrowed it down to the lower ball joint/bush. So Im going to replace it - especially since there was a brand new spare one floating around in my disco when I brought it! Just having a look through the repair manuals and they remove it with a special tool. Easy enough to make up from the pictures, right size bit of tube and a bit of welding, some threaded rod and a couple of my big sockets would do the trick
Has anyone removed the ball joint with this method? Or would I be better off removing the whole lot and sticking it on my press?

Hi Shane yes it is quite an easy joint to replace i wouldn't be removing the arm to do it. I use a different aftermarket tool but it is still the same method. If you are 'careful ' after removing the circlip you can sometimes remove the joint with a few decent hits with a big hammer but obviously you can't fit the new one that way. .... 😐
