Had the same problem, fixed it removing the sump guard and putting in the shed . Never had a problem without it but then I don't do any rock climbing just normal on and off road stuff . Never had a sump guard on the old falcon I drove every where in the Pilbara for 20 yrs . But each to there own .
Anyone know where to get one of the tap style sump plugs?
Any issues with cutting a hole in the engine guard tray and using a tap style plug so that it's a quick easy job?

Hi,
that would be the only way to change the oil in most marine inboard engines surely?
Bit tricky to get under them.
cheers
Tombie has a great point but the engine is designed to be drained by the Vac. Just the same as many big Marine engines that have hand cranks on the side to remove the oil. If you have the engine hot when you do it you will be fine. Sludge should not be in one of these anyway there not a 2.8 Toyota engine that has a lot condensate issue to turn it to sludge.
Since this thread is about oil extraction, not draining, I have a question.
Received my Pela 6l extractor today and the tube doesnt fit the extraction spout, damn it. Ill use it for the TD5 as it fits the dipstick. The Pela site states OD is 3/16" (4.7mm), its a top quality flexible metal (spiraled) and coated with black plastic which will not fit without starting to strip back the plastic coating therefore making it useless. What are others using? I guess 4mm OD is required and where could I get a similar type of tube or a suitable plastic one for a vacuum extraction:question: Cheers.
