    EPB switch

Just wondered if anyone has had an EPB switch failure. After having the car checked it turns out that my problem is the actual switch. Has someone replaced one of these ? If so was there much involved ? Thanks.

Do you mean the actual switch that sits on the console that you pull to activate the brake? If so that should be pretty easy, I haven't done one, but you can buy the switch for about $80 on eBay and it should be just a matter of a bit of disassembly, connecting wires and putting back together. Doesn't look too hard.

But do you mean that, or the actuator?

Yes, I believe its the switch as it is an electrical fault. Diagnostic tool described it as switch fault. Just wondered if anyone had replaced one.

What are the symptoms of you problem?

Do you have a 'horrible' sound, can you not get the handbrake to release, or something else?

    Friend had the problem.
Removed the switch and flooded with contact cleaner then refitted.

    Been fine ever since...

    Give it a go!

No sound. Handbrake will not engage, ie switch is "not sending signal" (if that makes sense)

I presume you've checked the usual suspects like fuses etc.

Yes fuses checked & good. Fault logged as switch.

I had an intermittent fault with the EPB on the Vogue, two or three times it wouldn't disengage unless I used the "put it into gear and touch the throttle" technique. Contact cleaner and compressed air seems to have fixed it, without even taking the switch out of the console.
