To add a little more detail to this, here is what I ended up with. Hose runs from snout on snorkel inside guard to the airbox connector(not my photo but it's the same). I didn't take a photo of this but I had to add a gasket between airbox and guard connector (Safari snorkel kit comes with this gasket but not the cheapie I bought) and I also added sealant around the gasket.
