No insight except that the same happened to mine. Real pain in the arse actually, although not enough to do something about it. It's probably something simple.
I have two keys, until, recently the third button on one was programmed for the follow me home headlight on/off function and the other did nothing (my attempts to get it to function failed)
I have just come back from driving sydney to byron and 5 days camping at bluesfest and lo and behold both the third buttons now operate to open the tailgate, a function not mentioned in my owners manual!
On shutdown today the follow me home lights came on and could not be turned off by either of the key fobs, I had to turn on the lights at the switch and then switch them off which turned off the lights.
Weird indeed.
Any insights out there about why all this has happened?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Al

Does the fault still exist when you try to re-program the 3rd button?
They are possessed I swear. I have lots of fun with keys. Twice they have just refused to work. I think of my Disco now as a living being who must be treated well or else.

Nailed it Carl !
I have three keys - two work my memory seats properly (lazy entry function, mirrors etc), one will not ... No idea why ... Have tried everything (including new seat memory module which I needed anyway as my old one was possessed) to no avail ...
