    Hi Paul and others,

Some conflicting dates and statements from BFG/Michelin.

I not my local BJ trusted dealer of 35 years in the tyre trade to dig around.

265/65R18 KO2 available early September, he thinks 1 st week price TBA
    265/60R18 not available. Full stop......

He made a comment to me after it was made to him, KO2 255/55R18 late in the year.

The dilemma is, do I wait for 265/65 and put up with some rubbing or go to bridgestone D697 265/60, Mmmm?

    Regards

    Gerald

We took the D4 to the Flinders last weekend shod with D697's on the GOE rims. Plenty of bitumen and dirt roads as well as driving all of Sky Trek on Willow Springs station. Most of this drive is on station tracks with a few small challenges along the way but the last 10km or so provided us with ascents and descents as steep and long as a lot in the high country with plenty of rocks, erosion gully's, loose shale climbs to conduct a reasonable evaluation over the six or so hours it takes to complete this drive. Even had the LLAMS in extended mode to negotiate a lot of erosion steps on climbs and descents with only one small underbody scrape. On the way back to Adelaide about 25% dirt on a lot of our favourite back roads

These were tracks where a puncture was highly probable given the recent rain had exposed lost of nice killer rocks. We ran 34F and 36R, same as standard 19" tyres on road and 24F and 26R off road

End result. Tyres are as quiet or quieter than the standard Goodyears, grip levels are the same and off-bitumen and off-road. No problems at all and no need to wait to get a decent off-road tyre

    Hi Rob,

Thanks for the feedback on the D697.

We did Sky Trek back in June and it was so dry, but a wonderful full day., We left at about 9:30 am and got back at 5pm? My wife enjoyed it so much, she still talks about it.

The landscape must have been so different after good rains.

Rob, I assume you have 265/60?

    Regards

    Gerald

    Hi Gerald
I was up in Southern Flinders Ranges few weeks back and got to try out my BFG AT- TA's (from 2014)- these are 265/65/18 with OD of just over 800mm.These given you slightly more clearance (say 10mm but would depend on tyre pressure) than the D697's which I believe have OD around 780mm (or fraction less). There is slight rubbing at normal height on full lock front wheels as reported by others but didn't notice any at LLAM's + 30mm nor Offroad height (LLAMS+50).Very happy with their performance. There is a slight but non obtrusive 'hum' around town but not noticeable at highway speeds (and considerably less than my old Cooper ST Maxx on my D3). Very happy with their performance both on and off road and the steep rocky climbs we did were similar (if not quite as rutted) as RobA's experience further north at Skytrek. Certainly both centre and rear e-diff's had plenty of "on time" (mostly partially locked but occasionally both fully "locked") looking at the centre screen in 4WD mode! Rain set in whilst we were there which made for very muddy conditions just getting in/out of the property at Horseshoe Rim. Whilst the AT-TA's are clearly not mud tyres I thought they performed very well using similar off-road pressures 22-24F and 26R. Did not need extended height in Horseshoe Ranges as Offroad height with slightly more clearance from larger tyres was enough. I would certainly be happy to order the new BFG's when these (eventually) wear out!
    Hope that helps. regards, David

    Hi David,

Thank you taking the time to write down your experience with the BFG's and any anomalies with minor rubbing on Skytrek and road observations.

Will certainly take that into consideration. I have an extra month, before I need to decide on brand and size.

    Regards

    Gerald

    Gerald and others,

This arrived on my email, copied and paste..
    Hopefully this is correct
Maybe they got confused with 65 profile, will have to wait and see.
It is getting a bit frustrating,to say the least.

    Hi Paul,

Mmm, very frustrating. All care no responsibility it seems.

They have been consistently saying September for the 60, August for the 65, don't know if the 65s are now available.

I saw this today at Lark Quarry out of Winton. At first I thought it was the "one" in 65 size. But then I noticed on closer inspection it says KO not KO2

    Didn't see the owner.
