    hi guys,
another update. Picked up my new silicone intercooler hose from allfourx4 near newcastle. At the time i asked for some advice on my issue, the accessory guy put my car on the autologic.came up with 4 faults linked to the air flow and gas flow all of which may be effected by a faulty intercooler hose.Well i fitted the hose and straight away a noticable improvement in driveability and fuel consumption inproved. My suggestion is if anyone does experiences another esf that could be related to air flows maybe it could be the intercooler hose.
    cheers

i all, update on my problem.i have change the intercooler hose.went on a trip monday.heading into a strong wind only got 135klms,esf warning, lose of power, pulled over removed key reset, continued on.Only got another 35klms.same thing, same fix. This happened one more then 10klms later heading up a very steep hill, complete and very quick limp mode, very dangerous, stopped me in my tracks with a long line of cars behind.Just managed to get the car and van off the road, reset as b4 but decided to turn around and go home, with the wind. An hour later i stopped at the same place as i did b4 going and removed the pollen filter,a bit dirty, cleaned as best i could. Also cleaned the MAF sensor, put back together and went at the trip for a second attempt,All good for one hour till i got to the exact same hill in the exact same place complete shutdown, pulled over, reset but decided to continue, but this time when i came to a hill moved out if sport mode into manual shift and this did work for the next 200klms. My thoughts, could the pollen filter cause such a meltdown or are there other things that couls cause this.It may require a trip to a specialst landrover mechanic if i cant find a solution,Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks

    Hi Boardrider

I have had the same issue for the last month, but more intermittent. Then last week it became permanent and it was diagnosed as a faulty Turbo, $6000.00!!!

I rang around and took it to MR Automotive in Brisbane for a second opinion and they called a few hours later saying all fixed. A sticking turbo actuator $240.00!

I only picked it up yesterday, but it seems to have a lot more power and no ESF lights. Hopefully all good and if it is I will have it cleaned yearly.

    Hopefully yours is as simple.

Hi Fitzy, my RRS 2.7TDV6 has also been throwing up faults, that appear to be turbo related. It only occurs after some time on the freeway and when overtaking, at the end of the overtake when you are coming off the throttle a fault would sometimes appear, but not always.

What are the circumstances when your car went into restricted performance.

    Thanks Andrew

    Hi Andrew

I can't really say it happened under any specific circumstances but putting it in to command mode (sport) usually made it drivable. But I have just come in from a drive where I stuck it to it a bit and it is very very good.!

hi fitzy, thanks for that.i have checked mine on start up and shutdown and appears to be ok,but thanks will investigate again.
i am getting a new pollen filter tomorrow and will be heading home with the van on sunday,so that should test it,I took out the pollen filter and put a foam pad at the air intake of the snorkel and have done 200klms today, uphills and down dales and the car went well. The test will be with 3,2 tonne of van on the back.

does it throw any error messages up on the dash or just the fault lights?

Mine doesn't throw up any lights, just the "Engine System Fault" message on the display and power is reduced. A stop and restart clears the fault and full power is restored.

Mine also was just Engine System Faul and nothing else. Also came and went a few times but eventually stayed, with dramatic loss of power but also ran not toooo bad in command shift!

    Running really well now though!
