    Tow ball/drawbar receiver

We just ordered an MY14 3.0L TDV6 primarily to tow our Kokoda Challenger Extreme caravan with a little more ease than what our 4.2L Patrol is capable of and I am now looking at the tow hitch set-up.

Our van's draw bar and coupling stands at 430mm from the ground when on a level surface (from the ground to the bottom of the coupling) and it is clear that the LR standard tow ball/drawbar receiver is a bit lower than that - the manual says 409mm which is not much lower, but I guess with the weight of the van on the tow ball it will make it lower again - or does the air suspension system take care of all of that?

I have researched this site for information on what solutions other LR owners have come up with and it seems that the Mitchell Bros 4x4 Hi-Rise Tow Hitch is one of the best ways to get the extra height. However I saw somewhere that it raises the height by 150mm, which is way more than what I need - I would then have to get a drop down tongue.

So my questions is - for the sake of possibly just 21mm in height, is the Mitch Hitch at nearly $800 plus fitting the best solution, or do I just leave it as it is and let the suspension system sort it all out, or is there another way to level out the rig?

The suspension keeps the car at a constant height no matter what the load so you do not have to allow for any droop in your deliberations.

Just rotate the tongue. It's very common to see it.

Sorry- I don't understand. The standard tongue that comes with the Discovery is a weird hook thing. You can't turn it upside down, or do you mean that you insert a straight Hayman Reece type tongue? Don't think that you can do that either.

The tongue that comes with the LR tow kit can be rotated - you also need to rotate the towball as well!

Oh - I see. I was looking at the drawings in the manual as I haven't got the LR yet.
    Thanks.

That middle link in the last posting, good price! Free delivery to boot!
You can get a 1 1/2" raised towball off ebay as well if you need extra height.
