    Electric Park Brake Issues

I have a semi regular occurring problem, where the park brake gets stuck on. After manual release, as per the owners manual, and driving / restarting, it goes back to normal and the faults clear.

It happened today and I noticed after I had tried to release it when the car was in Reverse not Park. Would releasing the brake in Reverse have an effect?

    Get a hold on that

I normally release my park brake manually but on occasions I have forgotten and that includes in reverse. Never had an issue (touch wood) with the park brake releasing automatically no matter the direction of travel.

When was the park brake last cleaned / lubed / adjusted? I do my customer D3s and Sports at least at every second service. Every service if there has been dirt road / offroad driving done.

I got new rear brake pads and disk etc last month at a LR specialist, so don't think that is the problem. I assume it is electrical

The EPB has its own drums/shoes - separate to the discs/pads. This issue occurs when the drums fill up with dirt/mud etc or the EPB needs adjusting essentially preventing the shoes from releasing from the drum.

Worth getting it checked out before the EPB actuator is damaged.

I have a faulty EPB switch ATM. I have just bought a new switch but am unsure how to remove the old one. Has anyone done one of these ? Thanks.

However as the drums are the inside of the discs, replacing the discs requires re-adjustment of the park brake shoes. I suggest taking it back to the workshop and ask them to check the adjustment.

    Bodsy's brake bible

Check this manual out. You can download it from the DISCO3.CO.UK. It has detail on everything you need to know about your brake system including how to adjust the EPB.
