    Ok, it's hard to see...

I fitted one of these battery trays and mounted a plate on the left hand side.

    Attachment 93335

I then made a quick bracket using some angle alloy and bolted the 2 units on.

    Attachment 93336

Between the plate and the battery is 2 relays - 1 per light.

    Wiring goes:
    Battery to relay 1 & 2
Relays to + input on each transformer
Earth to stud just in front of air box
    Then
    + output to light
    - output to light

I used power poles to connect everything...

    Fred,

If you get stuck, I can probably give you a hand, but it wont be until next week.

Unless, you would like to ring my wife, shed a few tears down the phone, and get me out of a whole weekend of Irish Dancing...

    Hi Andy.

I'm no expert but if you look at the pdf's provided on the Fyrlyt website under the Tech heading I think you'll find that they are quite different.

Here's a link to the page.

Many thanks Tombie. I have a bit more space than you, since I have my second battery mounted in the rear of the car. I agree with you that it must be better to use one of the earth posts rather than the negative battery terminal (as in the circuit diagram). I will make a bracket to support the transformers too unless I can find a nice flat place.

Now Basil135: It is kind of you to offer to help, but your wife rang earlier and said you were too busy. I hope you enjoy your dancing.

I mounted the transformers on either side of the radiator in my Vogue. There were two spots seemingly custom made for the install. I didn't even have to drill holes! I would assume a D4 is different though. You are welcome to have a look at a convenient time if it helps.

    Thanks everyone.

I checked out the possibility of installing the transformers near the radiator, but there are no gaps suitable in a D4.

The transformers each measure 80mm x 140mm x 50mm which doesn't seem much until you try to find two big enough places to accommodate them. I reckon I've sorted it now though.

I have worked out a simple bracket design and found a place to secure it. I will source the materials and get cracking this weekend. Camera at the ready.

Lights installed and working beautifully. First flick of the switch.

These lights are bright. Colour is excellent. Really does make it seem like day time out there in front of the car. I will play around with the spread/spot settings and work on the alignment, but really they are pretty good already.

It is still dark under the bonnet so I will defer the pictures of my handiwork 'til tomorrow. Installation went pretty well even if I say so myself.

Here we are. Pictures of how I installed my Fyrlyt Nemesis 9000. Total cost was about a dozen beers less than $1000. The lights are cheaper retail than advertised at the Fyrlyt webpage.

The key to my installation is this bracket which I drilled so that I could mount the two transformers and the relays as compactly as possible. These are available at hardware shops. The dimensions are on the label.

Here are the transformers and the little supports for the two relays all bolted to the bracket.

This shows the bracket, the transformers and the relays secured to the left side of the engine bay in front of the battery box. [The SC80 is part of my rear Andersen plug, rear 2nd battery setup as per Traxide and is nothing to do with the Nemesis.]

Now, looking from the right to show the relays and the wiring. I have used heavier wiring than the 6mm recommended for all of the 12 volt connections. I used the supplied 6mm wires for the 24volt connections. I know it looks like spaghetti, but the wiring diagram is easy to follow and it is made to look complex because there is two of everything. A completely separate circuit for each light.

A view from the front again with the battery box lid off to reveal the two 40amp inline fuses.

This is my light switch cluster. The driving light switch has been reused from my old spotties. (It is quite a nice switch and it looks like it is OEM)

This is to show that I followed the instructions and have used a torque wrench to set the clamp at the correct tension. It is actually much tighter than an Allen Key could achieve.

    Final install completed.

I hope this is of some use to anyone looking to install these fantastic lights in a Discovery. The idea may help others too.
