Place to service LR3 V6 Petrol in Essendon Area and fuel filters for 4.0lt petrol.

I have just purchased a 2007 LR3 V6 petrol and looking at places to service this in the Essendon area. I found a place called Tulla Car Care in Tullamarine that state on their website they specialise in Landrovers. Spoke to owner who confirmed they have the diagnostics and source their parts from British Car Components in North Melbourne which sounds great as I bought a few items from them when I had the Disco 1. Quote provided for a standard service seems reasonable compared to what one of the big dealers was charging the previous owner.

Has anyone used this business, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

On another note, I cannot see anywhere on the web where to buy fuel filters for the 4.0lt petrol LR3. All of the service kits on eBay, uk and oz sellers do not have a fuel filter compared to the TDV6 kits. Owner of Tulla Car Care checked his parts computer and there was a note on the system to contact the parts provider directly, he said there is a chance they are inside the fuel tank. If anyone can shed light on this would be greatly appreciated.

If the Ford V6 is a one way injection system like the Thor, then it will probably not have an external filter, just one inside the tank.
Most modern cars do not have external filters eg my Honda Jazz.

Just a question, why do you call it an LR3 - the US name, rather than a Disco 3 or D3? I've noticed a few new members doing that.

I just saw them being abbreviated to LR3 on various websites and manuals etc...if it is US based then I am definitely going back to naming mine a Disco 3!

    Fair enough!

We can't have you and the forum being polluted by US nomenclature!

Exceptional Discovery 3 Service in Tullamarine Melbourne

Re original posts and sourcing a honest and reliable mechanic. I have found an absolute gem. Owner Dennis from Tulla Car Care in Tullamarine.
Mechanics Tullamarine | Mechanics Airport West | Mechanics Keilor Park - Full Log Book Service | Cars | Boats | 4 Wheel Drives
    https://www.facebook.com/TullaCarCare
We had an issue with our Landrover Discovery 3 running rough and the engine light coming on. RACV diagnosed this as a cylinder 1 misfire and stated possible ignition coil issue and reset the computer and I was able to get it up to Tulla Car Care the next day. Trevor put the car on his computer and could not replicate the fault but also switched over the spark plug leads and ignition coil to another cylinder and took car for a test drive. He noticed that the spark plug was not sitting correctly on the offending cylinder and this may have been the issue. Car had been running like a gem with no issues after 2 weeks including trip down to Sorrento and back. The car then started the same issues and Dennis has discovered a faulty spark plug in cylinder 1. The porcelain insulator was cracked. Dennis and his staff went above and beyond to find this issue, get replacement NGK platinum spark plugs which will probably be better than the original parts at a cheaper price. I will definitely be servicing my car with Tulla Car Care when it is due. Who knows what a dealer would have charged and what unnecessary parts would have been used etc....

You may ask why the spark plug was not identified initially but modern day cars and false diagnosis from RACV roadside can sometimes put mechanics on the wrong path to start with. Go knows what the dealerwould have charged.

The so called genuine spark plugs for these are actually a motorcrfat spark plug being that the petrol v6 is a Ford Exploerer engine, as per images I have seen at various landrover spare websites and were twice the price than what Dennis has sourced with the NGK platinums. I am having nightmares as to how much I could have been hit at a dealer for possibly new leads, new plugs, new coils and probaly $1000 plus later!

Oh and as a bonus.... Dennis also services boats, the full hog, engine service and repairs, fibreglass repairs, installs for sounders, gps, lonestar winch fitouts etc.... So you can get the entire rig serviced at one place.
