    Air-conditioning compressor for D2.7

Looks like I am up for a new air-con compressor, has anybody had to buy one in Australia and what sort of cost for the compressor?
Dealers is quoting $2000+ at trade and have to order from UK.
any suggestions on compressor suppliers or indicated costs gratefully received.

Is 2nd hand an option ? Could always try someone like Triumph rover in Lonsdale SA they may have a low km 1 from a D4.

Ya they aren't a popular stock item, mine failed and was replaced under warranty but had to be air freighted to Aus from UK as none in country

I had a look at the UK prices for the genuine replacement, they average around the ?500 to ?600 mark + postage.

Craddocks in the UK has one for a Discovery 4 for ?541 + postage, if you can't find anyone to reco your current one.

This will give you an idea on how much they are for the Discovery 3

    New air com compressor

Have been advised DO NOT repair (yet LR want an extra $200 if you don't give them the old one???), Somebody must be doing "recon" with old compressors.
Have ordered new from UK (Brit Parts gave best price, and seems only 1 type fits 2.7 at 660UK Pounds delivered.)
Have to also get new condenser as these cannot be flushed out.
So beware, this is not a cheap "fix".

    That's better than $2000 +

I wonder if the Ford Territory has the same A/C Compressor, might investigate this a bit more.

OK I found one, $200 + postage, now, are they the same??

A number of things are different including the number of ribs on the pulley.

    This one is 349GBP (~ 720 AUD):

    RE air compressor for D3

Great finding SBD4, I looked everywhere, as figured Denso probably make the original. Would really be useful to know if it fitted on 2.7D3, or if Ford Territory Compresor fitted, as figure we are really getting done over on some LR parts that should be generic.
The LR part may be some sort of heavy duty compressor, but we would need expert to tell us what the differences were.
Purchased locally, it was $2000(trade) for compressor, and $550 for condenser, Freight from UK was a killer at $260, but all up cost of $1690 for both still puts me in front on local buy.

Definitely fits the D3, there's compatibility checker at the bottom the page.
