    EGR problems

    Hey all,
I'm reasonably convinced one of the EGR valves is on the way out on our '08 D3. It sometimes starts poorly and has almost no power until 2500 rpm. It will miss when the throttle is blipped unloaded too. Then it will come good - everything normal. It has thrown a couple of codes, but not all the time either.
From what I can gather, it's possible one valve is sticking open on shut down. The question is, do I spend time removing the valves and cleaning, or just bite the bullet and put in new ones, and if installing new ones where is the best place to buy them?
    Thanks heaps,
    Matt

    Speak to BAS..
If you can get it to work enough by cleaning then get a remap from BAS to leave it shut...
No more problems, better throttle response, economy and performance - and the money has gone to something that will make the vehicle much nicer to drive.

    Hi Matt ali walsh,
When my first started showing signs of problems especially after some cold damp weather I took the electrical connections apart and cleaned them up, put s small amount of Dow Corning electrical grease on the terminals and they worked fine for another six months.
If you get ideas about replacing them think the decision through very carefully. After all that get hold of BAS.................

Matt - had the same issue with my D4 and my local LR dealer quoted me close to $3K to replace both EGR valves. I got my ECU reflashed for $1100 that included a software inclusion that keeps the EGR valves permanently closed......problem fixed and the bonus of the extra torque and kW the car has means pulling my camper trailer is much more enjoyable!
