It's a great problem to have!
They are both as capable off road in the right hands. I have an MY12 D4 and love driving it. I frequently use the 3rd row and can't see me fitting all my camping gear in the RRS.
Today I had to pick up a chaise style lounge suit that I bought off gumtree. The girl I bought it off said no way it was going to fit. It swallowed the whole thing no trouble.

Looks like the general consensus is that both are damn good choices given the right car but the disco seems to be the preferred.

We had a 2010 2.7 D4 and loved it for all the reasons mentioned, but after a necessary break from LR, the practical choice for us was a 2010 RRS, because they're more city friendly for my wife, particularly for car park clearance etc.Quote:

Be mindful that the RRS tyre diameter is 29" compared with the D4's 30". Hence a 19" RRS tyre has less sidewall than the D4's but many people fit the Disco size tyre to the RRS - just be sure to change all 5.
Ah good to know, didn't realise the fitted tyres where different.
The D3/D4/RRV size 255/55R19 is really too narrow for 19" RRS rims that are meant to use 275/45R19 but at least there are a few more tyre options in 255/55R19 and provide a little more sidewall and ground clearance. The RRS sits lower than the D4 so it benefits from the larger diameter tyres if used off-road.
Gonna test drive the disco with the 3l to see how it goes.
255 width is fine on a Sport - have used them for years. In practice, a pre-2014 Sport fitted with the same tyres as an equivalent D3/D4 has the same ground clearance. However, it has a shorter wheelbase, so has a greater ramp-over angle.Quote:
