Not sure the strap on the third row actually releases any mechanism...will have to check later..have you tried pushing hand between seat and back rest and pulling?
Hi Guys.
New to the forum, we have just purchased our first Discovery 4 and just tried out the third row seats, but seams the drivers side has lost its strap on the base of the seat so we can not put it down.
Any quick way to get it back down without the strap? I am thinking of taking the side cover off and having a look behind that, but I think there will be a quick trick that one of you will know?
Thanks in advance![]()

I have used the third row of seats about three times in three years and folding them away has never gone according to plan as I never remember the exact order to do things and how.
Trouble is without me actually looking at it and playing around myself for five minutes I can't tell you what to do! Be re-assured it's not stuck, you're just doing it wrong.

Thanks for the responses.
Yes I have tried pulling from the base, didnt want to break anything and it didnt move at all.
Ok I will go try it again and see what happens if I persist a bit longer.
The D3 (not sure if the D4 is the same) does not seem to have a locking mechanism for the seat cushion. If the passenger side has a strap have a closer look at that.
To Fold 3rd row seat -
Seat base is first, pull small tab/strap at rear of seat base & this will fold then lock the base to its forward position.
Then fold head rest by pushing button on head rest to lower.
Then release lever (pull upwards) on the floor to the outside of the seats.
This will then lock the seat base down into the floor.

Cheers
I managed to find what remained of the strap on the base, yes it releases a locking mechanisim, but easy enough with a paid of long nosed pliers to fix
