Thanks Everyone - plenty to look at...

Purchasing locally (Miles, Chinchilla or Roma) is pretty cost prohibitive,

The "CSG Boom" has shifted from construction phase to operations, essentially everything is pretty quiet. A few local business' feeling the pinch and some of those who invested in the alleged housing boom have been caught out

    Cheers

Same local businesses and real estate agencies and building speculators were happy to price gouge during the boom.
$800/week rent for an old ****box of a house 18 months ago, but now the CSG boom has settled the agents are asking $450 for a near new 3-4 bedroom home and you're likely to get it with an offer of $250-275/week.
At least the locals on normal wages (non CSG) have a chance of a getting a roof over their heads now.

Is it feasible for you to buy the tyres online for delivery and get them fitted by a local tyre shop. I had a spare stripped, replaced by a new tyre and balanced recently for about $23.00. When I was looking for a replacement for the spare I could get tyre delivered far cheaper than buying from a dealer even allowing for strip and fit being an additional cost.

I used tiresales last time to buy Pirelli Scorpion ATR's online. They were the cheapest at the time for me. They weren't in stock on the website so I called and placed an order, which you can do for any of the brands they stock.

They arrange free delivery and fitment to a location near you. Check out their fitment centre locator, there's a few near Miles:

    G'day all,

Lining up tyre purchase through our service guy & laser alignment, read some positive stuff on Toyo AT - price was still up there at $340 a corner fitted & balanced + $110 for 4 wheel alignment.
Keen to get it all sorted in pre trip service for Xmas Drive with grandkids to Perth (ex Brisbane)

    Cheers

I have recently bought D 697's in Broome ($449 inc GST ea) and Darwin ($457 inc GST ea) which included fitting and balancing.

That cost also includes the disposal of the tyres, which up here is a reasonable amount. When I get another one on my sixth rim soon I will ask exactly how much it is.
