I see that some of you are purchasing single-stage hydraulic jacks such as the kincrome 6T.
Please do more research before purchasing any of these as it is my firm belief that only a two-stage jack has a sufficient stoke to lift the D3/D4 via the chassis.
There are really only three important facts to consider
1. sufficient load rating (2000kg is enough)
2. short enough to fit under chassis with tyre deflated, and
3. long enough stroke to lift under chassis and fit an inflated tyre
The screw section is only of use in the first step - ie getting it under the chassis, after which it is only the stroke that is important.
Here is a much better alternative -
BST2000 Omega Jack
available from Blackwoods for approx $115 (less if you have an account)
2000kg telescopic 2 stroke
Min height 181mm
Max height 442mm
Stroke 201
Screw goes up 60mm
Several threads refer to this jack including http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...ion-sorts.html .
Also Merc Sprinter jacks have been used but they are difficult to obtain and taller than the Omega to start with.
Hope this helps.

There is a possability of making the adaptor from plastic, would make the machining easy.I have seen plastic rod Lindsay gets for use on his UWA racecar project which he has made bushes out of.

I picked up the Kingchrome 6T ,that Cost Less Bolts ordered in for me, this morning.
Nice surprise and no idea why.. but it only cost me $66-00
Maybe it's my suave good looks![]()
ok ok maybe not...
At that price it's worth having around the place anyway even if I end up getting a better one in the future as well.![]()

Sent pics and measurements to my boy,he is going to do the calculations to see what plastics he may be able to use,if possible for the ease of production and cost.
The hole in the chassis is only a dowl hole to help stop the sccisor jack from slipping.

Ive had a chat with Lindsay,he is going to price up 30 and get back to me.
Thoughts are the plastic option,he is going to investigate which grade is required, machining on the lathe is easy, material expensive.
His other option is to get the 3 parts, washer base and pin laser cut and he will tig weld them,he thinks this will be the cheapest option.
We discussed making them on the lathe from steel, too slow thus more expensive.Aluminium may be cheaper as the machining is faster.
He is going to 3D print prototype at uni to see if its what we want, shame the plastic on that isnt structural grade!!!! Will see him on thursday.

Gents,
I've had this Toolex 2 stage jack under the rear seat of the D3, then D4 and now the current D4 since 2007. Works a treat, has the height and has never leaked.
The adaptors (I have a spare) were made by a mate and work equally well.
Note this jack won't fit under the car if its in limp mode. When this is the case I've used the LR to raise the car high enough to use the bottle jack.

My suggestion would be to machine it out of aluminium with the lower cup a relatively tight fit over the top of the jack. A simple belt with a mallet to the side of the cup (against a vice or anvil) would distort the cup enough to grip on the top of the jack. Crude but very easy to fit.
Cheers,
Chris
