And using that analogy does that mean the Mitch hitch has to be removed when not in use (as it projects outside the OEM vehicle footprint? :-/

HI Guys - actually my first post however.. when deciding on what to do about the tow hitch on my LR3.. it is really all about the height specifically (and removing the farmers plough after the shock of seeing it after taking delivery of the disco!) for towing my 4x4 camp trailer which is quite high at 600-710mm normal ride... I was looking for a post with the heights that the Mitch Hitch achieved - or others, from what I could tell searching the forum and what people told me over the phone it was "about" 500mm from the ground to the top of the standard tongue which I thought wasn't enough, so I was contemplating getting a larger drop hitch turned upside down etc.. however I wasn't sure if this was going to then hit the tail gate etc.. etc.. I just went and ordered one throwing caution (and potentially a bunch of cash) into the wind, when it arrived two days later from ordering over the phone.. I have to report I was very happy with it after fitting it I highly recommend the hitch to any one... regardless of the heights.. The reason for the post is to put a few pics up on the heights - these measurements are taken with the standard set of 17" wheels and tyres 99% tread & the standard airbag suspension on my LR3 and near perfectly level ground. Obviously results may differ slightly for each rig so use a guide.

Normal Ride Height ~606mm to top face of hitch
Low Ride Height ~558mm to top face of hitch
High Ride Height ~645mm to top face of hitch

Pics attached. Have a good day!

P.S. I'm really enjoying the AULRO community, I'm a new LR owner also who is busy fitting out my LR3 from standard which I'm also enjoying..

Tried to do it last weekend but the bush wouldn't fit. Rang them Tuesday to be told I need to use a die grinder even though the instructions say 'Disco 4 only'

Did that today and all fitted. Covered half of the inboard reversing sensors rather than turn them

I did have a Mitch Hitch but gave it to a mate. I make do with the OE plough now, but I have fitted a Mc Hitch auto coupler. The setup works well and has no overhead clearance issues. It also keeps hitch up dramas to a minimum. ( no arguements with the other half )

No, but the tongue is required to be removed when not in use...
