Thread: Aftermarket nav on factory screen

I haven't thought about doing it as I have the factory satnav in my HSE. If it's as good as it seems it would be worth considering if the cost was reasonable. (Just looked at their web site and it says $1400.00. I'm not that disenchanted with the factory one yet ) Might be an option for those without factory satnav or later on if the factory updates are rubbish.

I looked into this almost two years ago when I instantly became disenchanted with the TomTom on the windscreen after purchasing a newer D4 without SatNav.


My older D4 had SatNav and whilst some would say that it's crap, for me I found the pros outweighed the cons easily.


I'd have to dig up my old posts to get the details but IGO Primo sounds familiar. There was a local company in Brisbane ... in fact there were two that had fitted a system on D4s .... one of then on the Northside had fitted several, photos supplied, etc.


If I'm still on track, IGO Primo drives the Toyota OEM Systems ... sort of ironic ... or did then. But they (the fitment company) had managed to integrate almost all of the LR stuff using the OEM screen, including the 4WD functions. I'm certain it was HEMA capable.


However, it was well over $2K if memory serves and did not have voice command integrated, as that module is built into the LR SatNav. No voice command:- you do not have phone voice connectivity .... as in press speaker button on steering wheel and say "ET Phone Home" (Bluetooth still works but not to that level of integration). You also cannot zoom or put any voice guidance info into the system ... as in "Navigation, 20 Headworth Street" .... Navigation "Zoom in 3".


I'd be very pleased if somebody had managed full integration and could do it sub $2K.

Thanks for this. I'm keen on this and have made contact with a supplier in Melbourne. It's still Igo and it is Hema compatible. I'm waiting on installation details. Will provide an update when I get a bit more info...

Not heard of this before. Are you saying that this would replace the OEM satnav screen with google maps. If so how?

This is the beauty of Open Source systems, if LR ever go down this path, if you have the equivalent of High-Ice (as in a video screen), you download an App and whatever is on your phone/ipad appears on the car's display.


When I say open source I mean not restricted by Configuration Files that are built into the software. Right now, in a Land Rover, you can have all the hardware in place but it will not work unless the car's Configuration File matches/is enabled. This is fact. You can have a reverse camera fitted but unless you enable the CCF, it will not work. You can't even change from Halogen to Xenon headlights without a CCF change.


With regards to the SatNav question, moot point really, until it actually happens. However, this is what Holden are doing now. I cannot comment on it's level of integration, etc, though.

Relies on you having cellular coverage!
