Self Regenerating Pads and Rotors?

My last dealer service they told me the same thing. Car had around 22000k on the clock. I queried if this was unusual brake wear, but they said it was about average. I then asked how many more k's I could expect to get out of the brakes, and they said 5000 max. They also said the car had a sensor and would warn me when the brakes needed to be changed, so I said great, let's wait for that to happen. 8000k's later, still no brake warning ...:confused:

My brake wear indicator came on at just on 100,000 and that was the rear. That is with predominately country driving so imagine city driving will be half that.
I changed discs and pads all round and at the same time changed the lower front arms due bushes worn. While I was in there I did the roll bar bushes as well.
After a full alignment it is like a new car again.
