    Frontrunner slimline Disco 4

Hi all, tried to find some info on this without luck so far.

When fitting full length Frontrunner Slimline II to Disco 4 (2013), was wondering if people have cut the black channel cover in sections to go in-between the feet of the rack or just made cut outs around the feet and kept the guard in one piece?

The instructions for this bit are a bit vague (with no pictures)

Thought Id ask first before cutting anything.

    Cheers in advance

Don't know about the Frontrunner but I recently fitted a Dolium K9 full length platform. The mounts were a straight bolt into the threaded holes underneath the xmas tree type plugs that secure the rubber strip.Imagine front runner would be the same.Found it easier cutting the head off the plugs than trying to lever them out........drill the plastic stem, then clean out the thread with a tap.ie Leave the strip as is,mounts sit on top.

Yeah I can see the holes to screw straight in, but unsure what people have done with the strip itself- cut around the holes or into sections to fit between legs

Just went up to the shed and took a couple of photos of mine.

Front legs appear to be mounted on top of the plastic trip, and in fact appear to have an additional plastic or rubber strip or pad for packing / protection.

The three rear legs on each side are mounted on tracks on mine. The vehicle did not originally have any tracks - these were supplied as part of the roof rack purchase / installation.

I'm assuming though that you have purchased the "new" Slimline 2 roof rack. The mountings on this model are different to the older version that I have, so I'm not sure if the photos above will be of any use to you. Also, the new Slimline 2 mounts closer to the roof (lower) than the older model. This gives you a lower overall profile, but has the disadvantage that you can't mount accessories such as the slide-in camping table under the rack - there isn't enough clearance for this on the new model roof rack.
    Cheers .........

Yeah thats right, new version has the mounts built into it (4 legs in all). Thanks for checking yours anyway.

Anyone got a new version whose fitted it themselves?

I just left the whole strip underneath the mounting hardware. There are holes there for the bolts to go through. I think the instructions suggest that you cut the strip so that there is no strip under the points where it mounts to the roof channel. That just looked like to much work and i would probably not get the lenghts just right.

This way it looks neat and its been in place for 8 months. However i havent travelled many corrugated roads with a roof load. When i do i will be checking that the mounting bolts are not working loose.

Thats what I did initially, but I thought the bolts weren't bedding down properly. I agree with you, its neater without having to cut anything. Will keep tinkering.
    Thanks for the feedback.

    Hi Kamatan
I'm currently in the same situation - to cut or not to cut? What did you end up doing with yours?

Anyone else been down this road recently? I'm talking full length rack. I bought two brand new roof strips from LR to replaced the ones I'd cut up for the Rhino nad it seems a shame to go cutting these too if I can get away with it!!
