Martin, can't quite remember when the "solid" signature LED lights were introduced (I thought 2013), are yours the solid ones or the older "spaced" signature lights? If it is the spaced ones, then to have DRLs, the ones that are shown in the pic that Scott posted would have to be installed(on the lower bumper). If you have the newer "solid" sig lights then they themselves are the DRLs.
    Cheers,

I'd be interested in the answer to this. Pretty sure it's a problem to change from halogen to xenon. I think I read on here where someone tried it but couldn't get the vehicle to talk to the xenon. So that would mean you'd need a halogen light but with signature LED DRL and I'm not sure if such a thing exists.

I have the spaced ones so the bumper inserts would be DRL's for my model.

Salesman at a dealership (not where I bought the car) told me the spaced led's were DRL's.

I could always turn on the parking lights but I've gotten used to the auto setting now.

A lot of car salesmen generally don't know a hell of a lot about the vehicles they're selling.

In the earlier D4 with Xenon headlights and "spaced" LED's within the light assembly (as I have on my D4) - the LED's are "signature" lights and NOT DRL's.

They are nowhere near bright / powerful enough to be considered DRL's, and are not wired up / programmed to function as DRL's. The only Land Rover OEM option for DRL's with these lights is the separate units mounted low in the bumper, as shown in Scott's photo.
    Cheers .........

    Yeah, that was me.

I'd read on a UK forum that heaps of folks had done D3s so I'm certain it can be done on a D4 but I just couldn't find anybody locally that had made the CCF changes before and in one instance where I got an Indi willing to try, their diagnostic tool couldn't get into my CCF 'deep' enough. They were also worried that the wiring, etc., may not actually be the same in both cars, as in the Xenon lights might require heavier gauge wiring for example. So there may be a risk of fire or damage to the car. I followed that line of questioning but nobody I talked to could confirm one way or the other.

I managed to pull a fav with LR (cause they generally frown on changes like this, so I was told) but they could only find one file, which when changed didn't work completely. I was told on this forum that there may be at least two files that require a change.

I'm sure with time (or knowledge) and the right tool it would be simple enough .... however, I just gave up as I was short on all of those.

What hasn't been mentioned either is the prohibitive price of the lights as they are a complete unit containing ballast and shutter motors, etc. Or should I just say the prohibitive price 'cause they are LR .... LOL!!! The price itself is the main reason nobody changes over, I'd wager. Even on eBay in the UK they are very hexi.

    Cheers.

I was at the dealer's today getting the radio checked out and I asked about the lights and Scott is correct - I have halogen lights and that means I don't have the xenon with the led surround.
I asked about a change-over possibility, but was told that it is a huge job with extra wiring loom and very expensive headlamps. Apparently if one globe goes on the xenon lights it costs around $600 to replace!
So - I will leave it as is knowing that if I do have a globe go, it won't cost me much to replace it.

Peter, I recently changed the bulbs in my round DRLs within the standard halogen light for about $25.
The new bulb provides a much whiter light. It's not brighter but is more in keeping with the headlights in its colour and I think looks much better.
Certainly not as good as the strip LEDs but an improvement anyway.
Photo doesn't really do it justice.
