That's a great compromise Scott - the yellow lights do spoil the look of the front end and those globes look very good.
I'll be ordering some when we return home to Port Macquarie

    Thanks

So - I will leave it as is knowing that if I do have a globe go, it won't cost me much to replace it.

So, if we're talking exact MY Halogen to Xenon, I'd actually like to see part numbers and wiring diagrams to ensure there are actually loom or other componentry differences. Nobody thus far has convinced me one way or the other that there are differences .... and no dealer, no Indi and nobody on this forum could say otherwise for a D4 when I looked at it not that long ago.....nothing against them, but at the time they just had no knowledge of it being done. When I looked at it, it was an MY13 SE Halogen to MY13 SE Xenon swap.

There are definitely wiring loom differences between any MY15 and older models regardless of them being Halogen or otherwise because the headlights are completely different ..... MY14 was the last model with a two part headlight I believe. But there is a fix for that.

There appears to have been quite a few options across D3 & D4 from basic Halogen, Halogen with LED, Xenon with LED and Active Xenon with LED ..... The headlights are a complete unit regarding shutters and ballasts but never got to the bottom of the parts differences outside that ... if any.

CCF is probably going to be an issue regardless....unless you have a tool.

Regarding the cost of the Xenon bulb, I'm sure with some shopping around you could get a better price than $600 a pop (no pun intended ) but based on my first D4 ... it was 4.5 years old, close to 90K on the clock and there were no signs of light degradation in any way. Apparently they don't just pop, they start getting old. So maybe 6 years or more with far better, safe light, I wouldn't factor that cost as an issue into the equation. The cost of the lights themselves are just nasty.

However, some folks with D4s, once a little older and the parts are cheaper, and they have a diagnostic tool, may wish to know the full details.
