    D4 MY16 SDV6 SE charging system fault

Just after start up this afternoon received a "CHARGING SYSTEM FAULT" on the display. Disappeared after about 30 seconds.

Then about 5 minutes down the road same warning again. Fault stayed for about 10 seconds on that occasion.

Car is only 2 weeks old with 400km on the clock. Anyone had this same problem?

There is an update available to sort the problem, see your dealer.

    Hi D4cruzer and welcome abroad.

There can be a number of causes for the message and there is, as Aaron posted, as update for a software issue.

If you are doing lots of short drives, your driving habits may also be the cause of the problem.

If you have a digital multi meter, next time you do a drive of more than 10 minutes, with the motor still running, try measuring the voltage at your cranking battery terminals.

With a low battery like yours, you should see mid to high 14v.

If it is around 12.2v, you need to get the software upgrade done ASAP, to avoid getting a flat battery.

Unless there's a more recent one, perhaps worth noting for the software update mentioned here previously, there is a VIN range restricted to MY14 for the TSB:

    TSB: LTB00667v2 (or LTB-00667-NAS-1)
    Discovery 4 / LR4 (LA)
    Model Year: 2014
    VIN: 698741-726591
"Due to gateway module (gwm) software issue, the instrument cluster and/or eco stop/start, fails to function and displays, intermittently, Battery warning message and warning lamp."

And reading in the thread linked below indicates different symptoms to the message that D4cruzer has experienced (CHARGING SYSTEM FAULT)
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...y-warning.html

Having said that, some people on Disco3 did get the same message as D4cruzer and had it fixed by this TSB.
But they had vehicles within the VIN range I think.
