    Akebono Pad Identification

After reading on here about Akebono pads and then having my repair place recommend them also I have just had all 4 wheels disks and pads changed with them. (also had 2 new lower TCAs and a tranny service = $3,500 )

Looking through the wheel I am not sure that I am seeing Akebono pads at all. Can anybody confirm whether these are Akebobo? I realise there is little to go on but here's hoping!!! The rears appear to be TRW branded

Supposed to be OEM manufacturer disks also but who knows!!!

Sorry to advise on this, but it looks like your been had on that first pic. The Akebono pads are definitely not branded TRW. Not sure what the number on the second pic is. I will have to check. What is the detail on your Disco ? D3 or 4, and which motor and std rim size ? Which pic is front ?

Did you have the work done by a franchise or chain?

If so, go to another outlet and without telling them where you had the work done tell them you are concerned they are counterfeits and want to confirm they are Akebonos...

Agree with Admiral, certainly the rears are not Akebonos and are not the low dust/ceramic version of the TRW equivalent which has part no 1632DTE LR055454 GDB1632DTE TRW LOW DUST CERAMIC FORMULA REAR PADS
Your's look like the standard TRW replacement LR055454 GDB1632 REAR PADS TRW BRAND FOR TRW CALIPERS ALSO REPLACES SFP500140 LR015519 LR016808 LR032377 LR055455 LR019627

was charged $165 for front pads and $101 for rears. I have seen the number on my front pads showing on an internet picture of some Akebonos so hopefully they are right.

Was a LR specialist but not a dealer and I would never go to a franchise personally.

The fronts are Akebono. The fronts are their number EUR 1098 and the part number on the backing pad is AK AS 328 GGB14. It is possible the rears are currently unavailable. At least the right pads are on the worst end. I wouldn't be too concerned. Probably worth a query as to the type of pad they have used on the rear. If is a ceramic or ceramic mix, the dust and noise will still be better than normal metal based compounds.
