New battery at 2 1/2 years - covered under warranty?

I suspect our D4's battery is on the way out. When starting it sometimes takes a while for the engine to turn over. As the car is only around 2 and a half years old, I'm wondering if Land Rover will cover this as a warranty item? It seems a bit early for a battery to fail.

    Cheers
    Sean

Believe it or not, in the 5 minutes since I posted this, my wife has called and told me the car is now refusing to start! She's going to call the break down service (Land Rover Assist?), so I guess they'll let her know if the battery can be replaced under warranty...

Two and a half years life is a bit short for a battery.
I recall reading of some charging issues. I think caused by the ECU. Maybe a software problem??
Might be worth a bit of a browse.

    LR Volts

My battery was replaced under the Standard 3 Year LR warranty and from memory I had about a month left to run on the warranty at the time!

Land Rover have sent RACQ, and he's determined the battery is fine. He also doesn't seem to think it's the starter motor, but whatever diagnostic tools he has can't tell him what the problem is. Anyway, it's going to be towed - not sure where yet, possibly Austral, but as it's broken down at Redcliffe apparently they may send it to MR Auto, which would be good.

Yep, the missus spoke to Land Rover and they said they battery would be replaced under warranty. But as mentioned in my last post, it looks like the battery is fine - in fact the car has now started apparently, but we're still going to get it towed as there's clearly something wrong.

    Hi Sean,

My car is in at LR for repair ATM. My car (2014 D4) has been going in and out of Limp Mode, with varying fault codes and warnings.

They seem to think the issue is with a faulty Steering Angle Sensor that may have been draining the battery. Anyway time will tell when they get the part on Monday and install it.

My battery was also tested by the NRMA and numerous times by myself, and it always seemed to be OK.

I am not saying you have a Steering Angle Sensor issue, but something else may be draining your battery, but when the alternator kicks in, it charges as normal, hence the battery seems fine at the time of test (probably doesn't explain why it is not starting however).

Good Luck with it, I know how frustrating it can be.

Fine isn't good enough for these things, they need to be awesome. I aborted a work trip and drove 4 hours home because my wife couldn't start our Sport, in which time the RACV turned up and much to her embarrassment it fired up first time. It then ran for a week and died completely on me. The battery tested fine the entire time
