Not possible. Requires additional hardware etc.
Hi guys
I'm looking at purchasing a disco 4 that has the big touch screen with rear camera but not optioned with satnav. I have heard you can unlock this feature some how. Does anyone know how to add the satnav feature back in. The button is there but am told from Dealer no navigation
Not possible. Requires additional hardware etc.
There are third party navigation systems that integrate with the LR system.
Have a look at NAVIPLUS. COM.AU.
I saw it on eBay alittle while ago but never saved it. Now can't find it. Any idea where to buy the hardware and cost?
Click the link. $850

Looks nice, but for that price I wouldn't bother.
I have the large touch screen stereo etc in mine, but without navigation. I chose not to bother with the "in-dash" navigation, and purchased a Hema HN6 Navigator (which runs the same iGO street map system as the Naviplus system shown in the link given above). The Hema also gives you the standard Hema maps for off roading. A new Hema Navigator can be purchased for anywhere between ~ $600 and $750 with all maps etc installed, depending on where you look.
One of the things that I don't like about the standard Land Rover "in dash" screen is that I often can't see it when travelling - the sun glares off it quite badly. Even with the Hema unit mounted higher above the dash, I can set the angle so that it is less susceptible to sun glare, and I bought the optional "visor" that clips over it, virtually eliminating glare in almost all conditions.
I upgraded the street maps on line yesterday (cost ~ $65) as mine were a bit outdated - first time I've updated it in almost 4 years. I already have the latest Hema maps installed, through a free arrangement with Hema.
I personally prefer the Hema style system, even though it does sit up on top of the dash rather than in it. One big advantage is that I can remove it from the car in camp at night, and view maps / enter way points etc for the next day's travel while sitting near the campfire with a coldie in hand.
Hema has since released the HN7 which has a larger screen than mine - but I'm happy with what I've got. The larger screen is nicer though - I used to have a VMS unit with a larger screen, but my son now has that in his D2. Might give that a try in the D4, as the D2 is currently up for sale (minus the VMS) and his new VW has in-built sat nav.![]()
Cheers .........

I spoke to Naviplus about 4 months ago. At the time we were talking about a higher price, as per this link:
NAVIPLUS. COM.AU.
I don't know what the difference between the earlier, $850 version, and this version at $1400 are, it may be worth contacting Naviplus.
I'm most interested in getting Hema running, which seems to be possible as it's all Windows CE based so should be able to load via SD card.
Below is some of the answers I got to my questions:
I'm still undecided, though $850 would be far more tempting depending on functionality differences. The system comes with single HDD dimensional box, 1x GPS Antenna, 2 Cables and 1 SD card which will contain licensed Mapping (iGO). \
The system is pretty much plug and you are not required to connect it to car's fuse box nor battery etc.
As It's designed to receive power directly from Audio system of LDR.
The only hard part is the GPS Antenna, due to Land Rover decided to decline all those in & out signals within the car , GPS Antenna has to be located 'outside of the car'.
Yet It doesn't mean It requires to be pasted on car's body, more of in engine bay, under the bonnet.
All you have to do (and hardest thing to do in this installation) is wire out the GPS Antenna via gateway between glovebox & Engine bay.
I have heard there is a problem with the touch screen film they use which works for a while but gets too thin and stops functioning, can anyone confirm?
