    Transmission lights

Whilst towing the van back on Sunday 30c not too hot , I got a trans error message , car slowed right down and went into access height. Turned the car off restarted no problems then did it again going up a slight hill Restarted the car backed off a bit no more problems
I did think the trans was slipping a bit and economy was 20/100 way off normal
Any hints ? i have booked into indy on Wednesday to scan

Assuming it's a D3. Sounds like blown brake light bulb or faulty brake light switch.

Could also be damaged wiring harness behind the front left wheel rubbed by the tyre if come adrift from its mount, leading to intermittent wheel speed sensor fault. IIRC this was an issue for some D3's.

Some people have had similar symptoms caused by dodgy HPFP but I think depends on which model year, 07 and 08 get mentioned. Fuel filter could be worth a look too. But check the easy ones first (bulbs, brake light switch).

Hey Mate, first time poster - but came across this tread.

Sounds like a similar problem I had. Wasn't towing though. Car decides its had enough, power drops (no acceleration), lowers and throws a whole bunch of messages on the display. I've got an 08 D3 TD also.

Here is a link I posted on disco3Uk when I had the same problem (below). It ended up being the High Pressure Fuel Pump. I went down the fuel filter and electrical rabbit hole to no avail.

Since installing the HPFP i've had no issues since. A youtube video of the problem as it occurs is listed in the thread that showed exactly what I was experiencing (and what I assume you would be too). At the time I could reproduce the faults by accelerating up an incline, backing off, then slowing re-applying acceleration.

Take a look and good luck.
