Yeh, I found out today that it runs until end Feb, but all the good optioned cars will go first. I don't want to wait too long or I will be picking through what's left (not that 'what's left' is a bad thing when talking about a LR4 !!)

Happy to help out with some of my research when I'm done if you like. I love a spreadsheet !!! LOL
The Dealers pre-option cars based on what most ppl want eg rear air but not ediff. You can't go too wrong if you don't have specific burning desires
Now 2016 D4 HSE 'Leo' and Steve the Triumph Speed Twin
    Then 2010 D4 3.0 HSE 'James'
Then 2010 RRS TDV8 'Roger' w traxide DBS, UHF, Cooper Zeons, Superchips remap
    Then 2010 D4 TDV6 'Jumbo' w traxide DBS
    First love 2002 D2 TD5 'Disco Stu'

When I was buying, I didn't find the ex-demo cars to be that much cheaper; perhaps having a corporate discount helped. The only problem with buying bespoke is the wait for the vehicle.

As it turns out, it's actually quite a bit better value to get a new one at the moment.

PLUS..... I qualify for 3 years free servicing on new cars, but not demos. That was a clincher on the new one.

I've settled on a SE, with rear air and a few bits and pieces. It's about $6k more than a similar spec'd up TDV6, but given that I will have this for 5 years+, I think I'll regret not getting the SDV6. I know I'd be happy with the TD, but I can make the numbers work for the SD, so why not.

Just working on colour and the deal now. Might even have it before the end of Jan !!

    Very excited.

Yes, from humble beginnings. The Pajero has been a fantastic car, but with the kids growing up, it's time for me to have MY car. Someone is going to get a great deal with the Paj. Still purrs like a kitten and has a lot of extras.

It's looking at the moment like I am going to go the whole way and just get a HSE. Some good deals at the moment. I'm not going to overload this one with extras I'll rarely if ever use. Can't wait to get it up to the high country and do some photography of the huts up there !!!

    Hope you are well.
Yeah all good now, had a bit of a scare with Kerry and Breast Cancer, but all good now.

You love the D4, amazing car and you really don't need many extras anyway.

We love the High Country, been going there every year since 2003, let me know when you're thinking of going and we can show around some great places to camp and huts, lots of huts.
    Cheers Baz.

Glad to hear Kerry is OK. I'm dealing with that now with my mum and it's pretty awful stuff. Chemo really knocks the person around terribly.

I'm not going to overload this one, Ive "grown up" a bit and prefer the comfortable touring a bit too much now. LOL

    Definitely need:
    Tinting
Dual battery (or at least Traxide and Anderson plug at rear for trailer)
    Roof rails/rack
    UHF
    Side rails or steps

    Will think about:
Rear storage (I have a great set of drawers in the Pajero that I designed and built myself that I might reproduce. Love the Drifta set in Scott's post so may just buy one of those)
Spotlights (probably no need with bi-xenons)
Llams (not sure I really need or want this)
Snorkel (not convinced I need one, but have one now)

At this stage not bothering with:
    Bar
Winch (have used mine once and that was to pull a boat out of the water for a stranger during a massive storm! Might have saved the blokes life the way he was going)

And I'll look around the forum to see what else I want to get.

I've really gotten in to my photography, so the huts is a must must must !!! I NEED to get down there badly. I was also looking at a Merc GL350 and settled on the Disco primarily because of the desire to spend time in the high country.

Looks like I've got the car sorted, just waiting on a couple of counter offers, but likely to place deposit this morning. White SE with Ebony leather. It's $6k more than a very similarly spec'd TDV6. If money were a priority I would go that way for sure. But I can extend to the SE so why not.

Looks like you are following a similar course to what I went through, as I also looked at the Merc with the off-road pack.

For drawers, I ended up with the Dolium with the 4 Gomo boxes, which meant I can still raise the seat on one side to access the spare tyre winder (and it works well). You'd probably want a cargo barrier as well, and perhaps a water tank if you travel for several days at a time (tip: bladder tanks eventually leak).

If you have the HID lights, I think you will find it good enough; not as long range as the Lightforce I had on my Pajero, but it also means not as much out front.

I've tended to keep things looking stock, so use Gordon's rods rather than LLAMS, have Gordon's plates underneath (especially the compressor), and sliders that also function as steps.

You'll likely have to change the tyres though if you good off-road much, and TPMS (just Tyredog) have saved me several times.

I traded a 13 Y.O. Pajero for a new D4 HSE in Nov 2013. I was, similar to you, looking at demo vehicles or a new SE with options. Ended up getting the new HSE cheaper than demos I had seen. It was with a factory cash bonus. The only thing I didn't get was EDiff which I would have liked but for me it was a nice to have rather than a must have. The dealer imported one from interstate and because of a mix up with the first interstate dealer who sold the car from under my dealer I got digital for free as he sourced a different car in another state and said that was his problem not mine. They also threw in a free set of LR mats which I didn't notice until I got home.
