I didnt think the petrol had an egr system?
Cheers

I have a 4L V6 Petrol D3 with 215k and I've had problems with increased fuel usage. I also suspect it is running rich (smells rich)
Has anyone had to replace the EGR \ MAP sensor (it seems to combined in the EGR valve)?
Does anyone have the part number?
Any tips for confirming that the car is running rich? I have a BT ODB sensor but no idea what to look for.

It has one. I took it off today to take a look.

Hi mate any check engine lamps on? The ford system uses a barometric reading internal to the engine ecu and compares it to the manifold depression to get a value. If it is faulty it will set a check lamp. There is only a small margin from ok to not ok so i doubt it is your issue if there is no lamp on.

More likely to be caused by an oxygen sensor (or both) giving incorrect readings. An exhaust gas analyser would confirm this but perhaps just replace both sensors as they deteriorate with usage.

What sort of fuel economy are you getting dj?
quuck question does the petrol get the same benefits from blocking egr's as the diesel? Is it even possible?

I haven't had the check light on. There were some EGR errors logged last time I had it serviced but they were only 1 or 2 so SBL cleared them to see if they come back next time.
My Fuel Economy has been on the way up for 2 years or so. I remember getting 14l/100km but now its more like 19l/100km.
I drove down to the Cold Coast and back to Brissie last night and got 15.5l/100km which is an improvement on my normal city driving but still seems very high.
I doubt the EGR can be blocked off as the MAP sensor is integrated into the EGR valve.

Thanks dj. Im getting 17-20 in mixed driving. Not happy with it so keen to hear if you find an improvement.

So its been a year or so and my fuel economy is still terrible but now I have occasional hard starting, stalling at lights and rough running. When it refuses to start a reasonable amount of throttle is required to get it to start. Stalling at lights can also be avoided by adding throttle.
I also get regular Check Engine lights and errors logged:
- P0108-00(AA) Manifold absolute pressure/barometric sensor high input
- P0406-00(AA) Exhaust gas recirculation sensor A circuit high
So I think its time to replace the MAP\EGR unit - does anyone have the part number? I'm struggling to find it.
