Cooper and Mickey Thompson Tyres for 18 D4 rims?

Having recently purchased the GoE 18 rims for my D4, I've read through threads going back a couple of years for experiences with 18 inch tyres on the D4, but found little about Coopers or MTs.

Has anyone fitted Cooper ST-MAXX tryes (275/65/R18) or Cooper A/T3 275/65/18 to the D4 ? Or the MT STZ 265/60/18?

Rubbing? Wear with OR campers? Grateful for advice, thanks.

I've had the MT 265/60/18 STZ's on mine for quite a while now and very happy with them. They have more than 60,000km on them now, and still plenty of life left in them. Mostly bitumen work, but they have also been off road plenty of times. They perform well in all conditions that I have encountered, and no sign of chipping / cracking etc. No rubbing at all - there's plenty of clearance in the wheel arches at all height settings with this size. A little noisy once they have worn a bit - but nowhere near as bad as many other tyres out there.

I've had various Cooper tyres on work vehicles up in the Pilbara, and have seen far too many failures with these. Wouldn't have them on my own vehicles. But then, I also know others who have had a good run with them and recommend them. They used to be very popular around here in the Goldfields, but you don't see them anywhere near as often these days.
    Cheers .........

Welcome to the forum. Can't help with feedback on Coopers or MT but regarding rubbing, there's some good info on the GOE website.

    Summary:
265/60R18 - no rubbing at all
275/65R18 - some minor rubbing and therefore modifications to consider, detailed on GOE.

Also, this thread is about other mud tyres but also includes good info about the modifications to fit 275/65:

    G'day mate,
my experience with cooper tires was terrable... I was running the new AT3 on my 2013 BT50 and they were absolutely diabolical in the wet very hard tires they get you on the km garentee but read the fine print its not what you think.

I will never ever buy cooper tyres again.

Saying that some people love them ... maybe they have never used quality tyres

When I eventually get GOE rims Im hoping they will be bringing in the Goodyear Duratrac in 18" sizes. They have only recently started bringing them in in 19" 255/55.

Only catch is Duratrac in 18s is 110 rated.. And not LT.

    There's only one LT A/T out there - it's 114 rated.

With the 275/65 R18 both rear wheel arch liners will need modification as they will most definitely rub the O/A diameter is 815mm, front liners will also need some minor massaging.
285/60 R18 you can get by without modification as the O/A diameter is 799mm but beware this size spare needs deflating to fit underneath in the standard position. The 275/65 R18 will not fit underneath.

265/60 R18 is only 775mm O/A will not be an issue, standard rubber is approx 763mm O/A

Thanks for all the great info. I've got a rear wheel carrier so no issues with the 275/285 in the spare wheel space.

Spend each winter playing on the Cape so LR fuel tank essential.

Funny about Cooper tyres - just about all reviews are a mix of 5/5 and 0 or 1/5. People either love em or hate em!

    Cheers

I vowed never to buying them again after putting them on a D2,the tread blocks were cracking. They said it was exsesive off-road use possible abuse I really look after my gear so that really ****ed me off.
I did see a new set of the STT Pro tyres on a gutlux today, they are a nice looking tyre, just dont know if I could go back after having a bloody good run out of several different types of Wranglers.
