    K9 Ladder

Dolium in Welshpool now have K9 ladders for the D4 in stock.I fitted mine yesterday, they are a neat bit of kit.Made from aluminium,so very light but still
solid. No problems fitting, but the rubber backing required compressing by prefitting with nuts and bolts[I left it overnight]This ensured enough thread to fit the 10mm nuts that secure the number plate light fixture. The kit even includes some Helicopter/Rail Saver type tape to protect paintwork behind the first step. All in all very pleased.

    Looks great Geoff.
Does it bolt on at the top or just hook over the door???
    How much are they.
Something else to add to that list

Andy,It just hooks over the top of the door but is locked in position by a fitting to the left hand bolt[13mm] of the hinge.Price was $225.

Other than the rubber thickness, did you have any trouble with the plate bracket that goes behind the number plate light fixture? Ie its shape and alignment to the fixture? I had issues with my Frontrunner one in that area.

After struggling to access enough thread to get the 10mm nuts started,it finally clicked to get everything lined up with large washers and nuts & bolts also replaced the lower 4 screws with longer ones to draw it all into alignment.
The plate is aluminum so is quite malleable.Tightened it all up and left it overnight, hoping the rubber would remain compressed. It did,so replaced all the 'dummy'bolts with the originals and it all lined up ok.I should have washed my hands before sticking the protective tape down...left red dust fingermarks on the sticky side so will replace it.Next time, probably take about 30 mins,if the rubber stays compressed.

hmmm..... this looks really good, might have to think about getting this one (Adrian from Dolium used to be one of my Clients back in the day)

Did you install it yourself? was it hard to do? Any tips on the install?

Last question (for the guys who have one of these)......... do you use it much? is it very handy to have? (I DO understand that I don't want to carry a normal Ladder to get stuff down off the Rack. LOL)

    Cheers

I don't have this particular ladder, but have the FrontRunner offering on mine. But yes - I do use it a lot. Apart from on camping / touring trips, I often carry "building materials" etc on the roofrack for renovations around the house. Last week, it was a new large flat screen TV from Hardly Normal's warehouse in West Kal, as the old one finally gave up the ghost.

I also have the FrontRunner fold-up camping table on slides in under the roofrack, but can get this down while standing on the lower tailgate - don't need to use the ladder to get the table down / put it back.

Before I had the ladder, I used to climb up on the spare wheel. After slipping off that once (it has one of Dave's vinyl AULRO wheel covers on it) - I decided it was time to get a ladder.
    Cheers .........
