The oil changes must have been done with the correct oil and at the vorrect time not just kms. The alternator is almost a consumable item so be prepared for replacement at about the 95 to 100k mark. At the latest. The engine as a whole is fantastic but poor servicing will lead to big issues like turbocharger failures and egr valve faults etc etc.

Unfortunately not yet that i am aware of. They are just hard on alternators and expect a reasonably high labour bill too....😣

My brother recently replaced the original alternator on his 2008 TDV8 RRS at around 160K. He was told that the non-LR replacement sourced from Karcraft is a far better alternator and should last a lot longer.

Karcraft do remanufactured alternators,Ive put them in my TD5s.
Is this what he means???? They are obviously cheaper than a new factory one.

It was new, not re-manufactured AFAIK but can check in a couple of weeks when he returns from his trip.
