a good point but I haven't had to recover bogged people backwards very often .....

Actually, in truth my very first recovery was pulling a guy in an X-Trail backwards off the road coming out of Kingfisher Bay on Fraser Island. He was bogged to the floor-pan and nobody could get round him.

No joy. Not in the VIN range. My guess, they made an ordinary attachment design worse & those ones are getting replaced.

Had mine replaced today under warranty. VIN was outside of the range posted in another thread here, but no issue at dealers today.

Oh I've no idea now whether we're talking front or rear, but the latter is $36 plus postage on ebay... probably worth buying a couple!!

As an aside, those covers are the perfect excuse to keep one of those alloy bottle openers on each of the key rings. Perfect big flat for the plastic screw lugs
Now 2016 D4 HSE 'Leo' and Steve the Triumph Speed Twin
    Then 2010 D4 3.0 HSE 'James'
Then 2010 RRS TDV8 'Roger' w traxide DBS, UHF, Cooper Zeons, Superchips remap
    Then 2010 D4 TDV6 'Jumbo' w traxide DBS
    First love 2002 D2 TD5 'Disco Stu'

Backwards would suggest I'm in reverse wouldn't it?

I don't know but I admit I assumed when you said you ripped your front one off you were going forwards!

That's true .... that happened about a year before recovering the Xtrail, on the opposite side of the island. I ripped off the front cover in a washout that I didn't see until too late.

I was definitely going forwards then, then I went up and then I went down .... and then I stopped
